Barb's Precious Rescue

About

Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center is a safe and humane haven for cats. We provide medical attention, food, shelter and LOVE.

Description

Our mission at Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center is to create a safe and humane haven by providing medical attention, food, shelter and love for cats and dogs that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. We are a volunteer, not-for-profit, 501(C)(3) organization with all funds directly assisting our animals, and we are a no-kill facility.

We are now OPEN with an initial focus on cats and kittens. Dogs and puppies will also be available for adoption following completion of an addition to the building in 2018. The animals in our care will be provided with a safe, loving environment, and will ultimately be placed in a loving forever home.

Our compassionate volunteers are committed to caring for and socializing our rescued friends. Our home-style open environment allows our healthy rescue animals to enjoy their transition in a cage-free environment. Sick or injured animals will be lodged in separate quarters where they have a quiet environment in which to recover before being placed for adoption.

All pets in our care will receive the specific and unique attention they require and deserve. We believe that every animal deserves the best care possible in an environment in which they can flourish.

If you wish to provide a loving forever home for a cat or kitten currently in our care, please contact us today. And if you are interested in joining our volunteer family, we would welcome your assistance.

We found a stray, and out of all the shelters I reached out to, Barb’s was the only one who responded and was able to take him the same day. You can tell that the cats here are truly loved and cared for. If I’m looking to adopt again in the future, I’ll definitely come here. Thank you guys so much for everything that you do!
I adopted my cat Raj from them about 2 years ago now. I love him so much it's crazy. It's not that I would say this is a bad place or anything like that but my cat has FIV and I was made aware of that when we decided we wanted him, what wasn't told to us was that he had an ear infection and really REALLLY bad teeth, to the point that he would wince in pain when he ate wrong so we took him back in and had their on hand vet take a look at him she INSISTED it was a food allergy...she then gave us new food which was years expired and he puked right after eating we knew better so we asked Barb to get him to another doctor to take a look. He had missing teeth, half lose teeth, and really bad stomatitis. Turns out they had to take all his teeth out but 4....I'm not sure if Barb or others new the rough shape he was in but she was more than generous with paying for his whole surgery. I would rate barb and the rest of them 5/5 but the vet there.....3/5. But all in all Raj is happy and thriving now! Me and my husband as so happy to have found him
as a volunteer here, i can say that the cats are very well taken care of, and they are nice and friendly. Barb has all different type of cats in her no kill shelter. if your looking for a cat, there are many many options at this lovely shelter
My wife and I adopted these two adorable sisters. We couldn't be happier! Barb's Precious Rescue was amazing to work with. We live about 40 minutes away and it was worth the drive! They were prompt on responding to us and great on giving us updates during the adoption process. I don’t think I met one cat that wasn’t happy there. They were all friendly including the employees and I would highly recommend family and friends to go with them for any future adoptions, I know I will.
I think the people who volunteer here are awesome, including Barb herself. But... they're more expensive to adopt than even Treehouse in the city. But they're doing great work so it's understandable. The place is impeccably kept, but like all rescues they're at capacity and I feel like the cats might not get alot of human-cat interactions as well as individual monitoring. What I really didn't like is at the Open House, none of the volunteers seemed to be able to answer my questions. There were several cats I was interested in teen rooms but the volunteer didn't know the names of the cats or their info. Nor was he able to find the info from anyone else. If he had been more knowledgeable, I know I would have adopted a kitty. Another negative, you cannot meet with a cat in a separate room to see their personality or if they vibe with you. I think they could adopt out more cats if they made that available. Overall, I support Barb's I just think they need to tweak some things.
We brought an injured stray kitten in that we discovered under our neighbors' deck that was clearly in need of some help that we were unable to provide. Thanks to Barb's he made a full recovery and is now in a loving home with a friend! Our feel good story of the year!
i love that the cats aren't in cages and are well taken care of! barb is super nice & so are the volunteers... i've had my cat for over a year now & barb has helped me with questions & everything throughout!! great place to get a great cat! make sure to check hours bc they aren't open every day!!
Cats are well cared for here. Facility is impeccably clean. Staff is friendly and helpful
The ladies here are very accommodating. As we wait to bring our precious babies home they let us come visit them..
My husband and I recently adopted a cat from Barb's. We were so impressed. Each time we visited, we were greeted by Barb and other lovely employees who were very professional and knowledgeable about the personality of each cat. We were welcomed back multiple times to visit our new cat before she was cleared by the vet to go home. It was really nice to be able to visit with cats in big rooms without kennels. Each adoptee is given six months of free vet care through the adoption center, which is great. I highly recommend Barb's!!
