Bark in the Park is an annual event to benefit the dogs of the Lewisburg Animal Shelter. A day of fun for family and fido! Food and craft vendors, entertainment, doggie contests, silent auction, and much more!
This is the 6th year for Bark in the Park. In year one PAWS Now hosted the event and the funds raised were used to purchase the larger portion of the galvanized kennels. In 2013 Bark in the Park was hosted by the Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteers, with the monies raised forming the base of the Friends of Animals in Marshall County, the new Humane Society for Lewisburg. The HS will then start on plans to build a new facility and move the Animal Shelter to the building when completed.
In 2014 with the Friends of Animals in Marshall County board formed and ready to roll, we partnered with Mayfest and Teen Idol to put on the 3rd annual Bark in the Park! In 2015 for the 4th year it was again the Friends of Animals who hosted Bark in the Park, raising funds for the new building. In 2016, the Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteers were back to hosting, raising funds for toys and treats and supplies for the dogs as well as funds to help get the dogs in the shelter fully vetted before adoption. This year, 2017, the Vols are at it again, using the funds to catch up on the outstanding $700+ vet bill for the extra vetting for the shelter dogs. With over $5000 spent on vetting over the past fiscal year, it is making a difference in the lives of our shelter dogs!! Help us help the dogs of the Lewisburg Animal Shelter!
Bark in the Park was started in 2012 by Susan Ragsdale, then a member of PAWS, Now and currently the a Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteer, to serve as a fundraiser for area animal welfare groups. So far at least 4 entities have been helped in the past 7 years thanks to the annual event.
An annual fundraising event benefiting different animal welfare groups in Marshall County. Started by Susan Ragsdale for the community.
