Barre West takes the barre discipline out of the box by mixing old school with edginess. Different classes the offer the elements of ballet, Pilates and cardio for all levels. Barre West classes are held mornings at the Margo Dean School of Ballet.
Barre West is created by Lesley Layton and is designed for anyone and everyone who has the passion and the drive for themselves. Any level, athletes, first timers, moms on the go, millineals, etc., there is a class for everyone. These workouts came into existence from a lifetime of love for exercise and health, as well as an extensive background in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading. Lesley earned her bachelors degree in Health Exercise Sports and Sciences with a minor in Dance and is CPT with NASM. She instructed classes for many years such as (real) kickboxing, strength training, all aerobics, and of course dance. The barre discipline became Lesley's obsession in 2010 when she found herself not only burned out on bootcamps and classes at commercial gyms, but back pain became an issue and her body had seemed to plateau. The droves of people crammed into those classes with one instructor standing on a box and yelling just became boring and unmotivational. After taking just one barre class Lesley was hooked. Her body transformed into longer and leaner muscles and felt the strongest and most focused she ever had. Lesley went on to become a certified barre instructor and started and stayed with The Barre Code until the doors closed in September, 2017. She went on to create several different classes all stemming from the barre family tha cater to anyone. It's 'old school with an edge'. For the time being the Margo Dean School of Ballet is so kind to let these new classes start to take flight in their space during the day. See you there!
