Barry's Fine Furniture is a woodworking business established in South Boston, VA by graduate of the SVHEC PD&D program John Barry. Go reclaimed!
I didn't always plan to be a woodworker, but I knew in 2009, within the first 4 months of exposure to wood dust, calloused hands, and the people that surrounded me in the trade that this was exactly what I wanted to do. My first product was "The Chair: A Vehicle for Collaborative Learning", and it was just that; a way for me to get my hands dirty with wood for the first time and learn the basics of woodworking, and I haven't looked back! I have 6 years experience in the field, starting at DCC in the PD&D program, and was guided by two great instructors, Clint Johnson and Kevin Chrystie. During my education I worked a few seasons in 2010 with David Hallberg at Howerton Antique Reproductions in Clarksville, Va, getting an introduction to real world timelines and experiencing customer satisfation from the receiving end for the first time. During my education at DCC I was shown advanced woodworking techniques and made a couple of award-winning pieces. After graduation in 2014 I began working at Mayflower Landing in Lynchburg, Va with the Ghana native Thomas A. Johnson,
