Always a new art exhibit and an excellent gift shop Loved Into the Wood Exhibit. Venue Epoxy and wood beautifully designed by three generations of very talented men. Don't miss their Presidential video with Jimmy Carter. Polish the most beautiful parts of family for 3 generations and create... a Presidential moment that is worth visiting.
Honestly, I would never have known about the Bascom if it weren’t for a work related activity, and not knowing was a waste. This place is very cool and has a focus on local artists which adds to the appeal. In addition they host classes and workshops which I’m hoping to participate in in the future. If I remember correctly admission to the exhibits is free and definitely worth checking out. When we went they had a very nice artist in residence exhibit of black and white photos from local nature which was great to see. They also had an exhibit on a family of bowl turners which was impressive due to the scale of the pieces on display. If you go, you won’t be disappointed.
The Bascom is a real gem for our communities up here on the Plateau. They have amazing guest artists, a big shop with beautiful pieces of artwork for sale, all mediums, and they offer a wide variety of classes to the public. Really really an exceptional place to go. Be sure to get on their email list so you can see what artists are coming. And if you're a visitor to the area, it's a wonderful place to spend a rainy day if you cannot go hiking or to see waterfalls.
Wonderful little gem! Lots to see here, including a workshop with a helpful guy showing you how he’s glazing pots, as well as a nice nature walk. The exhibits were amazing, especially the wooden bowls. Who would have thought that wooden bowl carving could be so fascinating?
Free to public. Currently may 2023 they have an interesting photography exhibit and beautiful wood turning exhibit from a father, son, and grandfather. There is a bathroom available on the ground floor. Lots of pieces for purchase in the store from local artists.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Love this artist colony with pottery kiln/lessons onsite; art gallery with textile art, turned wood bowls, metal sculpture... Fine quality and variety for a medium size facility.
Everytime we come to Highlands we stop by the Bascom Center to see the current exhibits. Just as important is to see the architectural structure of the Bascom; the massive beams and vintage heartpine floors are beautiful.
Nice little gallery, with some good art. There's a shop and a lay area for toddlers.
Love the people and the beautiful facility! Great place for classes and experiencing beautiful art!
Love that you pull off the road and pass through the relocated, covered bridge, then see the beautiful rustic, repurposed structures of The Bascom. Be sure to ask the staff about them. The grounds have a great trail and sculptures to enjoy. The main building has wonderful exhibits in several galleries. The gift shop is filled with beautiful, unique art from a variety of artists with a wide choice of mediums, priced to fit every budget. Literally something for everyone! If you're wanting to create, they have classes for kids, adults, too. It's a must see when on the plateau.
