Our first visit to the Beach Village. I saw the wide range of reviews and was slightly apprehensive, but booked anyway for our family gathering of 20. I am so glad we did. The service we experienced was exceptional from pre-planning, to arrival, during stay and check-out. Literally, every single person we encountered was pleasant and committed to providing great service. Each of our 4 suites had great views, the amenities were excellent, and the feeling of being in a small boutique hotel within a big hotel was the best of both worlds. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and apparently due for a complete interior upgrade this year--can't wait to see the results. Needless to say we are planning to return next year as well. Special shout out to Sasha for the extra effort, and manager Sandra for reaching out to arrange early arrival details. Thanks again for an amazing trip!
We took our first REAL vacation in years this month and my husband choose the Hotel del Coronado. Having been there before for quick visits, this time we decided on the Beach Village; spoiling ourselves celebrating an anniversary and the fact that this was our first no-family, no-work, no-reason vacation in literal AGES. We had a bit of confusion checking in, didn't realize that Beach Villages has it's own check in area - don't know if we missed an email or if you're just 'supposed to know'. The gal at the front desk was polite in referring us to the correct check in area, once we got to the BV we were welcome and everything explained to us about our chosen spot. The room was clean and easy to find. We had a terrific view from our balcony. We spent almost every waking hour on the balcony listening to the waves and watching people walk by and simply enjoying not having any responsibilities for the week. We're not big into 'needing' maid service so we usually keep up the little door sign out - we did take the sign off the door two times for trash and towel service. Both times we were pleased with the room when we returned from lunch. We visited the ice cream shoppe while we were there - the gal behind the counter said that there is egg in each of their ice creams so I had Blueberry Sorbet, which was good. The hubs was pleased with whatever he choose ice cream with lots of stuff on it. I'd go again, but only if they have a no-egg option. We also ate at what I think is called the Sun Deck - it was average. I wasn't expecting anything super terrific at the Sun Deck, so I wasn't disappointed. The staff WAS friendly and attentive, which I did expect so was not let down. Lots of places within walking distance, food and shopping or just walking along the beach to get your steps in. One thing worth making note of, within a very short walking distance there is a bus stop. This summer bus 904 was free, and that bus took us to the Ferry so that we could ride to San Diego sounds like they've had bus 904 free for a few years now - hope they keep it up. If you'd like to look into it, the two bus routes I saw listed were 901 and 904.
We are extremely disturbed that the hotel did not warn us about the ocean water contamination. We were here with our 3 year old and 1 year old and nobody mentioned the ocean water is unsafe. There are signs on the beach that say “underwater obstruction-no swimming” that suggests an unsafe current or steep underwater shelf— but no mention of unsafe water. People everywhere were walking in the water and young kids ours included were playing on the sand with water from the ocean. It took speaking to 3 hotel management layers to get a reasonable response to my concern. They said they are looking into including a water safety report at check in but I would highly suggest checking it yourself.
Great stay!!! We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Village. We were away from the crowds, and had the smaller pool view of the ocean to ourselves most of the time. Henry’s was our favorite restaurant, and the Sunday brunch is amazing! Great family time. Rooms: Amazing!!!
Room was gorgeous and I can't complain about it at all. Awesome ocean view, huge bathroom, and amenities exclusive to the beach village. One very minor complaint is how long it took to get extra towels or and iron who uses those anymore right? Also, Hilton resorts you still have to call to request to have housekeeping...this needs to return back to a normal everyday thing instead of by request. Overall had a good experience
This was a 5 day vacation for myself, my daughter, and granddaughter. Our double Queen room nicely accommodated a crib, had a beautiful outdoor deck overlooking the ocean that was safe for our little one to walk. Beds were so comfortable. I want to buy their pillows. The entire room and entire resort is clean and friendly. We can’t wait to go back.
I am a hilton honors member! As we walked in the room the coffee maker was open, no coffee in the drawers and found a week old half eaten danish along with a bag of moldy rolls. The room did not feel cleaned at all. We Did not like the room with the accessible shower and toilet. Asked for a new room and was denied. Housekeeping came and cleaned but it should have been handled differently once we were dissatisfied with the room and cleanliness. Should have been moved, especially as we were staying for a week spending $13k. Wifi is terrible and everyone on staff knew it and complained as well. Rooms: The room they gave us with the accessible bathroom felt like a high school gym locker room. The rooms are really small. Don't spend the money, stay in the Views rooms or main hotel. Beach village is not worth it.
Love the hotel architecture and location, except for the services and pest control situation. We found huge flying roaches roaming in our room and my husband killed one. We told house keeping and front desk, but they just shrugged like it's not a big deal. I also forgot and left my brand new beach umbrella at the hotel, I have been trying to a hold of lost and found unit, left several messages, but no one called me back. Their customer service is terrible!!!
Great Hotel with access to the Del Coronado facilities. Great place for a quiet getaway. Love the balconies and the furniture on them. great Service and the best Taco shack we have ever had a chance to eat at.Rooms: 5/5
It pains me to write this review as a long time visitor to the Beach Villages. I’ve stayed at the Beach Villages over 15 times and it sadly has gotten so bad I cannot return unless the situation improves. Currently there is loud construction occurring throughout the property. We woke each day at 7am to the sound of a jackhammer on concrete in the room next door and construction on the pool to the other side of us. This continued throughout all four days of the stay. It was impossible to relax with the constant sounds of construction work until evening. Worse than even the construction, though, are the corporate parties that the Hotel Del holds directly in front of the $3200/night Beach Village rooms. It was the “farewell dinner for AT&T” and there were hundreds of people in attendance on the sand right in front of the Beach Villages. This meant that starting the day before the party, crews were setting up lights and other items for the party. The day of the party, crews of workers were out by 7am setting up for a massive party. So instead of seeing sand and waves we saw workers setting up tables, chairs, food trucks, catering areas, check in booths, etc, that completely obstructed our view. This was after specifically requesting a beachfront suite AWAY from the parties months in advance of the trip, as I’d been burned by a similar party at an earlier trip. Clearly the saying is true, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me for giving the hotel another chance. Unless the hotel decides to prioritize the experience of the Beach Villages guests over corporate events, i would highly recommend staying somewhere else. Noteworthy details: Major construction with lots of noise. Also corporate beach parties directly in front of the room blocking entire view of $3200/night room.
