I can't give this place the top rating however it does not deserve the poor ratings several others have given IMHO. There is some highway noise and you can hear the trains however it is rural yet close to town, nice views, back in spaces are tight but they do have a nice grassy area behind each site. Weekend rates are higher but you are outside a major tourist town. Staff was very kind and helpful as well. Overall I'd give it a 3+
We were just passing through and it was perfect for what we needed. It is close to the highway so there is car and train noise this didn’t bother me, I live in south St Louis city so I’m used to that and more lol. The kid at the front desk was very helpful and kind. The tent sites are kind of in a field without necessarily designated sites. There are also no fire rings to make a campfire which was disappointing but not a big deal as we were just there for a night. The bathrooms and showers are nice. It’s close to downtown so we were able to check out some Bozeman bars and then settle in at the camp. Overall, great experience.
Well, after coming on here to write a review I see that most campers have the same experience. Only wish I would've read the reviews prior to spending over $200.00 for 2 nights. As everyone else states the spots are tiny. There is no room to just sit and enjoy your time as the next door neighbor is almost on top of you and their sewer pipe is just feet away from the picnic table. Our spot had numerous cigarette butts, old and new, bits of little trash and chunks of rubber strewn about. The pool was okay and the location was good. We will be traveling from Wyoming to Bozeman regularly but will take this campground off our list. Shameful to charge what they charge for what you get. Have stayed in campgrounds that blow this one away in the Black Hills SD for less.
the campground is in a nice location right outside of town. nice clean and quite. staff are super friendly and helpful! and prices are reasonable!
Bear Canyon Campground is conveniently located. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We didn't use the pool, but it looked inviting. We've stayed at this campground a few times. The only downside is the train. If you can put a fan on or use a noise machine that can help drown out the noise. We'll stay again.Service: 5/5
Pool is free which is nice but cold water not heated. Grass needs mowed they only mow certain sections instead of all of it. Picnic tables are in pretty rough shape need upkeep and painted.. no fire pits at camp ground sites only 1 bathroom for whol camp ground and it dirty not cleaned at all never see staff out doing anything or checking on things. No Porta potties for campers pull in way in the back. No electricity boxes for tent spots.
Grounds are nice. Campers are packed in tight. Many have trouble getting their rigs parked. Bathroom was dirty even right after cleaning. Pine needles and grass remained in the drains. Soap slivers from past users remained. Shower walls dingy with soap scum. Floor discolored and dirty. Staff was friendly. Train horns and noise at all hours. Giving two stars because of the bathroom.
I don't like having to write bad reviews but want others to know it was one of the most expensive camping grounds, I stayed at in the five states I drove through on my journey. $81.00 a night. The spots are small an narrow and their wifi is a joke it would work for a minute or two and lose the signal and disconnect and have to start all over again. Definitely not worth what they are charging. One word disappointing.
If you are self-contained and do not need the shower, you're fine. Stay. If you are not self-contained, pass. 40% of the parks fault 60% people. The showe/toilet room is the worst one I've seen/used. For the park: add signs saying "clean up after your self " and clean the facility twice a day. You only have one shower/bathroom, and it is next to the pool or build another toilet facility. PEOPLE that camp there full time, quit being so disgusting and clean up after yourself. Rinse the sinks , throw away your trash. Photos would be too disgusting to post.
The owner is super kind and accommodating. Loved our stay here! Super remote place but close enough to in town bozeman. Staff are phenomenal! Highly recommend.Rooms: 5/5
