This campground situated by a large lake had many pros & cons. Few of the lots are large, good for 9/10 perspn tents and have some trees between lots and the roads #4, but most are smaller but decent if you have smaller 2/3 person tents #13 and others are right on the road with 0 privacy #8 & #9 but good if you want to pull through. They also have a handicap site #20 that is pretty level itself but is also level with the bathrooms for easy access. The bathroom building in my picture hosts a decent 2 stall 2 sink women's bathroom, 2 stall 2 sink mens bathroom and a seperate singular toilet 1 sink all gender/ handicap/ family bathroom. This building also has 2 singular shower rooms that are spacious, free to use, had a handicap fold down seat, and always had hot water. Unfortunately, they are the only 2 showers for the whole 40+ site campground that over the weekends gets quite busy. They do have a separate outdoor but covered wash station for dishes. There is maintenance that drives a few times during the day making sure the doors to the bathroom are closed, but didn't check the conditions of the bathrooms that were often out of toilet paper, and sometimes had plumbing issues especially over the weekend when larger families/ groups came Saturday/Sunday. Quiet hours start at 10 pm, and there were 0 enforcing of it with no maintenance drive bys at night. Which unfortunately for our extended weekend, we had loud music parties till 2am. Cell service was mostly non-existent or spotty 1 bars throughout the grounds, which could be a pro or con. By the lake, there is a composting toilet building hosting 2 stalls-2 toilet, 0 sink for womens & 2 stall- 2 toilet 0 sink for men's but have sanitizer dispenser in each. Also, a separated changing room building, a small sanded beach area, multiple picnic tables & grills, and small floating dock to rent boats/ life jackets. On the other side of the lake, there is a fenced-in dock, with a built-in bench & and a dam good for fishing off of. There's a day-use area across the check-in cabin by the parking lot that has a small playground and a large covered patio that has 1 large grill and multiple tables, also a small wood stage and 20+ wood benches in front. There are a few water spicket posts throughout the property that I did see the caretakers test in the morning, which was comforting. The garbage situation is all outside behind the check-in cabin in 2 large green dumpsters with rails to protect from critters and 3 smaller garbage cans for sorting metal & plastic. They do not have a bear problem. There are a total of 3 toilet buildings, the compost one by the lake/ check in one. The plumbing flush one with showers in the main loop & the 3rd in a distant loop about 4 miles away from the main one by the equine camping sites with stalls for your horses, just no showers. Firepits are recently updated stone/concrete combo with built on lever pull down grate for cooking. Most sites had new picnic tables, older ones down by the lake. The 2 male caretakers Nick was at the check-in & another gentleman who drove thru the grounds during the day were both very friendly. Playground: Has jungle gym but no swings or slides. No sand pit but there is a small beach with sand near by. Restrooms: There are a total of 3 toilet buildings, the compost toilet building by the lake/ check in one that has 2 womens toilets & 2 men's toilets with no drinks only sanitizer dispenser. The actual plumbing with flush & showers in the main loop & the 3rd in a distant loop about 4 miles away from the main one by the equine camping sites. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly, can't go on the beach but can by picnic tables & grill area by the lake and trails. Picnic area: Multiple tables & grills by lake. Larger covered patio area ny the parking lot that has 8+ tables and a larger grill in the day-use area.
GREAT PLACE!!! We just stayed Friday-Monday at this campground. We first booked on the second loop which is 3.5 miles up the road away from amenities shower, wash station, showers and has no trees between any of the sites. We went to the staff and they helped change our site immediately. The staff A+++, always driving around, checking on us, cleaning/stocking bathrooms, sweet and caring. The sites: It’s a 50/50 wether or not you’re gonna get a good one first time coming. I recommend the first loop and the ones on the top of the map for the best options. We had site 2 which was really nice, just hear the cars whip down the road but did not bother me. Some sites I would not even consider sites and they should not even offer them up for reservations just walk-ins. Which they allow The shower/bathroom pavilion: was nice and never had a problem or had to wait, only Saturday after dinner but all sites were filled so it makes sense. They were cleaned every night and well kept. Day Use area/trails: Nice and well kept, we did fishing and paddle boarding on the Gorgeous lake. We also did the hike right off RT 206 1 mile up the road from the campground and it was a beautiful 2 hr hike. We would come back again!! Packed on weekends, weekdays are empty. Overall enjoyable trip.
Had awesome time walking around trail goes along Launt Pond.. cant wait go around different trails next time.
Nice campground, staff Nick super helpful. Only 1 shower house in main campground, which was uphill from sites 1- 10. Firewood is available for sale at the camp office, no ice tho. If you need anything, the Valero/Big M in Walton has it, and only 4 miles away. There is fishing and boat rentals on Launt pond, along with a small swimming beach.
Campground is pretty big, but the lake itself - not much. Although we had a chance to take some beautiful fall pictures and some sports along the lake allow you to photograph great scenic views. There is also a trail around this lake.
Really nice, quaint DEC campground! The staff were the friendliest and most helpful group we have ever encountered at any DEC campground!!! Sites were very well maintained! Bathrooms were very clean and everything worked! Will definitely be returning
Had a great time camping with my family here this past weekend. Very easy to get around and great amenities, staff is also super helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely be planning my next camping trip here again!
Horrible service, unreasonable employees and very small campsites. We will never come again.
When we rented it we saw in tbe map diferent places. They rent us places that were by their road and we have kids.
This was a very nice and very chill campground. There is a gorgeous lake with mountain view’s. Out of the trillion places I’ve camped they definitely have the cleanest shower I’ve been in. The campground is clean as well and the staff is friendly. My husband, son, sister, bro in-law, niece, and nephews spent the past 4 days there and we had a wonderful and enjoyable time there. We will definitely return. Side note: our only minor complaint was that the ground is very rocky. Really not that bit of a deal, it just made it hard to get the tent stakes into the ground.
