Wow...you have to come explore the shops at Homestead Heritage. Many of the hand crafted products they carry are made here in Waco. Their grocery is similar to a mini Whole Foods store with a wonderful selection of organic, non GMO foods. We visited the cheese shop...they have a cheese cave! You can walk down into the cave and see rows upon rows of different cheeses curing to delicious perfection. They offer samples of their award winning cheese varieties to try...yum! They offer a complete line of cheese accessories to treat yourself or for gifts. Some of the items are made within the other shops on the homestead. Make sure to visit the authentic 1800s Grist Mill to see how they grind the grains, and go see the Forge where they make tools, knifes and many iron decorative items, and the Woodworking shop had hand made furniture you can watch being made using old world methods. The Pottery shop has a variety of useful and decorative glaze ware, the Quilt shop has all types of fabric and sewing notions. The Yarn Shop is a needle workers dream with different types of hand spun yarn and threads in any color you can think of. They carry a full assortment of crochet, knitting and loom supplies. Oh! You absolutely MUST dine at the Cafe! The food served is all grown there on the Homestead. They are rated the Number 1 restaurant in Waco and we agree! They also have the best tasting homemade catsup I have ever tasted. We bought a bottle to enjoy at home. We love this place!!! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Waco.
This place was literally a rustic general store. What they sell were exactly what I expected from the appearance. I assume travelers from Japan who want to find real American goods would be quite satisfied with this shop.
Great people, good prices, and good selection of products for your farm and homestead. We first started with some chickens from them, and now source all our feed from here we drive from Corsicana. They're always helpful - so grateful to have them as a resource.
Fun place to walk around and the quilt store was interesting. The BBQ looked good but we didn't have any.
I was really impressed by the selection of high quality items! Everything from toys, candy, outdoor decor to chickens and all their accessories! Staff was friendly!
Always a wonderful experience. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. My family and I love all of their products.
This place is amazing and I highly recommend stopping in and buying food. It's all fresh and local.
Homestead Village is the place to go to see a self sustaining agrarian community at work. The General Store is the product of their crafts and there is a great selection of goods to buy. The prices are a little high but you have to remember that they are all handmade on Homestead. Made in America is still a big deal with me. I loved to tour the grounds. Plan on spending some time there. And the shopkeepers are so wonderful, friendly, and forthcoming about their products and their lifestyle. This is a can't miss thing to do
General Store with lots of canning supplies. They have many items for gardening farming and farm animals. They also have a few gimmicky toys for the kids, t-shirts and a few small snacks. The store itself was clean and organized. Its nestled between the quilting store and market. There is also a BBQ place in the grounds. I didn't try it but it smelled wonderful and there were many patrons.
