We have been cleaning this area for years. Come on down with your family and friends and enjoy the clean park.
That homeless woman was ran over by a lawnmower here. Spooky
This was once the most beautiful park in Modesto. It is now a dog park that is closed to the public. All of the features it once held that attracted families have been removed. In my opinion the city of Modesto really fumbled the ball when it comes to what they have done for failed to do with this park.
I've not been there but, bits a home of a very distant relative, Sir Humphrey Starkey on of the round table warriors, he was a Judge of there laws.
Used to play lots of little league games here at the ball diamond in the late 80s early 90s. I always played really good at this baseball field. Don't know what happened to the park, the city gave up on it.
I think there used to be a large homeless camp here, but it doesn't seem to be here anymore... I came for the bike trails, which are fun. There is a pump track down a ways, and a nice section to practice cornering and berms. River access and a nice path for a walk, however its still a little sketchy idk if i'd come to hang out. Could be nicer, there is a big playground under construction i believe but it is currently all fenced off.
At one time this was a beautiful park, since the flooding and the homeless people living there it's a dead zone. The grass is no longer green and the trees are few and far between. When I was a kid this was the go to park for birthday's as it used to have an animal carousel in the middle section that separated the 2 parks Beard Brook and Children's Park. Now there isn't anything left of that. I don't hate the Park per say, I hate what happened to it.
As A kid about 25 yrs ago this was a magestic park. There were statues of carousel horses and so much to do for kids. Some of the original playground climbing structures are there, but since 2009 the homeless have taken over the area. Looks as if there is an area for a dog park I wish they would announce that to public so dog owners can use to park and claim it back for the community.
It was good to see and hear that the City of Modesto was contributing to the "Homeless" of the community. Many of the citizens of Modesto have little or no idea of what these individuals and families face on a daily basis. I wish that more people would take an interest in trying to find homes and better living conditions for these people.
Place where the homeless are legally able to reside. I think it's a great idea, to bad the State Capitol doesn't have an area for the homeless, misplaced, etc. But they are great volunteers there, food, port a potties that get dumped every other day, rides for appt, clothes. If your homeless and have self respect, friendly you know how you act... Than go.
