Beaufort Historic Site
"Welcome to the Beaufort Historic Site, set in the quaint seaport village of Beaufort, North Carolina.Beaufort, North Carolina's third oldest town, lies on the coast bordering the southern tip of the Outer Banks. Originally a fishing village and port of safety dating from the late 1600s, Beaufort has been visited by patriots, privateers, merchants and skilled craftsmen who built Bahamian and West Indian style homes and public buildings. Approximately 150 of these restored historic homes proudly bear plaques noting names of earliest known owners and dates of the original construction."

This is a must-see if you are visiting Beaufort NC. Stop first at the visitors center/shop to find out what to expect. The gifts are fun to look at! It’s bright and airy and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Once on the property, you’ll see restored buildings like the courthouse, jail, apothecary with garden in the back, and homes. It’s a great place to check out for all ages. My family husband, teenage son, adult daughter, and my brother went here and we all enjoyed the sites. My favorite part was perusing through the art gallery. Currently they have art for auction.
This is a double decker bus tour of historic Beaufort. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and made the history of the town come to life. He kept our attention every minute of the one hour tour. The bus stops at MANY homes and local landmarks. I really got a realistic picture of the old, local ways of life and the pirate Black Beard influences that made this little fishing port such a historic little town. - Just a reminder: When you take a tour like this always remember to tip the host at the end of the tour.
A wonderful side stop and checking out the local history. This was a very cool place to stop and explore. Please consider liking my review-pictures and follow along on all my adventures! It's All About the Adventures!
We toured the town and learned much of the history. Very interesting if I must say. Good experience loved the double decker bus. The view from the top is the best.
The exhibits were great, period pirate people were awesome, prices were sky high but quality crafts were worth it. The kids had a blast. We go to the pirate invasion every year in Beaufort and it is always a wonderfully fun time.
I wholeheartedly recommend the tour. You visit several historical buildings to include the oldest courthouse in North Carolina, an apothecary and several homes.
We take the kids to the maze all the time. When the weather is cooler you can eat your breakfast or lunch from Turner Street under the trees on the picnic tables. They have some really interesting history books on the gift shop as well. The BHA Parties are the best in town!
Beautiful wedding venue right in the heart of Beaufort! We always enjoy photographing weddings here because it's historic and you are a short walk to the water. P.S- We also love the double decker bus. It's great for wedding parties and you can always get some fun shots with them.
The guided house tour is well-worth the money with lots of historic homes and buildings to visit and great tour guides! We couldn't fit in the bus tour, but it looked fantastic as well.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
