Awesome place to grab drinks with a few friends after a long day or top end the night with your significant other. The view of the Brooklyn bridge at night really make for a stunning setting plus the couches in the man made beach light adding light when the sun sets in a unique way. The drink selection her pretty standard. I wouldn't go here expecting micro brews of expertly crafted cocktails. This bar is great for the atmosphere it provides especially in the summer months when you're looking for a beach vibe but want to stay in the city.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be : Drinks: Good. Although this is a beer garden, it doesn't have an extensive list of beers. Space: Want to fell sand without the trek to the beach? Perfect! This is the place to go! Beautiful Hudson and Brooklyn Bridge views! Really nice layout. Picnic tables for a more group hangout and huge white couches that light up at night for the more intimate feel. Scene: Very casual. Open and conducive to mixing and mingling. Good for get-togethers and date night. Crowd: 20-50s Afterwork crowd. Pick-up scene. Service: Fair since it gets really crowded.
Savor these borderline fall nights by spending them outside before it becomes too cold once the sun goes down. My pick for the week is the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club, which is all the way downtown near the South Street Sea Port also a great place to hang out for the afternoon. Beekman Beer Garden is a bar, restaurant, outdoor lounge and music venue that has stunning views of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a large space, good for big groups– so round up all your friends. When you walk in, they have a significant amount of picnic tables, as you would expect from any worth while beer garden. If you head to the back, there is another bar and a sandy lounge area with light up couches and umbrellas. This section is often reserved for private parties- just a heads up. It is a popular place to go for the after work crowd in the Financial District.
I've been to Beekman Beer Garden a few times now and every time I go I come away with similar feelings. As far as location goes, this "beach club" has some pros and cons. The views are absolutely stunning. Being able to look out at the bridge and the water is awesome and it is even potentially more beautiful when lit up at night. However, having the bar basically at the back of south street seaport makes it challenging to get to, especially if it is your first time being there. I like the idea of having a little beach set up as part of the bar but I wish there was a bit more seating in that area. The covered part of the bar is nice but nothing special. The drinks are fine but not unique and the food is wayyy overpriced. I would say it is a good place to take an out of towner who wants to have their toes in the sand while being able to look at beautiful city views, but if you are a local there are definitely better choices.
Beekman Beer Garden is a fun place to unwind after work with friends. There are tons of picnic tables in the shade for sunny days. There's also a sandy area with plastic couches out in the open. The view couldn't be nicer — located on the northern tip of the South Street Seaport, the East River and Brooklyn Bridge make a beautiful backdrop. Beers on tap are fairly standard; certainly not as adventurous as you might expect from a beer garden. Food is quite standard and limited too. Service is pleasant if disorganized; you're better off going straight to the friendly bartenders. Bathrooms are utterly atrocious; skip them altogether if you can. Go to blow off steam after work with friends; keep your expectations in check and you'll have a great time.
This is my first time going to a bar in south street seaport. Excellent views of the bridge, city, and waterfront. The food is decent regular bar food nachos, fries, and burgers, etc.. There is also a section where there are plastic glowing white "couches" that sit on a bed of cushy sand. I wish the whole bar was like that, but instead the rest of the area is just picnic tables on normal, boring ground : Also the beer selection is pretty small only 5 beers to choose from and no cider options. All in all a nice visit but I would like to see what else the area has to offer.
Like other reviewers, I think that Beekman Beer Garden is a nice place to go with friends or coworkers after work, especially if you work in the area.couches and a sandy area. The couches aren't the most comfortable, but I'd suggest grabbing one if you can and enjoying the view. The bartenders and servers are nice and pleasant, they have a decent menu of bar food get the the fries, but the drinks aren't the cheapest. The view is pretty impresive, though!
This place is fantastic!!! Million dollar views of the city with sand under your feet. Beer selection is a little lacking, but I don't really drink beer so that didn't affect my star rating. Such a great vibe: nice bartenders that interact with you not snobby like a lot of other NYC bars, nachos and cheese fries are delicious, ping pong, umbrellas... This is a place not to miss during the summer and maybe later-- not sure when they close.
I was here before for a Budweiser event where they doled out FREE lobster, shrimp and crab rolls, as well as their drinks. The views of the Brooklyn Bridge were definitely stunning - you definitely need to snap some pics while you're here. At night, the views are just as amazing. They have glowing white sofa chairs to lounge in while your feet can dig into sand. They also have one of my fav things: a ping pong table!!
I really like the sandy ambiance here and it honestly feels just like you're on a beach. It's a little pricey but easy to get to and close to all the shops at the seaport. I thought the selection was pretty good and the service was pretty fast. It's such a great view too and you get the wind there so it doesn't ever feel too hot. It's not Frying Pan but it's a solid beer bar to head to, especially if you have a little extra time after work though it can be crowded or book for parties a lot.
