Evelyn Shaw is a Discharge Nurse and is awesome at communication. She offered excellent advice and suggestions upon my Father's discharge. She is prompt to respond to calls. She is also very thoughtful, courteous and professional. I appreciate her care and going the extra mile to ensure the discharge went well. I want to thank her for her knowledge, skills and attitude. My dad experienced a great stay at this facility! Giving thanks to everyone in Unit 4!!
Unfortunately I tried to commit suicide. I was admitted into Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire. I was very afraid but I feel that the technicians and the nurses helped me feel comfortable as well as safe. I had the opportunity to talk to three doctors and two therapists during my 10 day stay. I became very close to those individuals that were in the hospital with me. The hospital was clean, food was good, and when I needed something I was given it right away. If you need help, this hospital is highly recommended.
If you really care about your love one, don’t send her/him to Behavioral hospital in Bellaire. They are the most uncaring, non supportive people I have ever met. There is a huge cover up in that place. We had to transfer My sister to a medical facility and was in ICU from a head bleed from trauma force and had bruises all over her body. An investigation is being conducted at this time. I would have rated it a zero but not shown. Please please never send your loved one there. Our family is heartbroken. .
Would give 0 stars if I could. This facility is a joke! I called 19 times and left 4 voicemails in the first 2 days that my child was here. I just kept getting transferred to staff that never answered the phone. The child advocate was on vacation, the ONLY therapist for all 20 adolescents would never answer the phone, return my calls and left early one day, and the Nursing Supervisor would not answer the phone either. The majority of the nurses that I was able to speak with were disrespectful and rude over the phone. I was told "there is no update so there is nothing for the therapist to tell you." The only way that I was able to get ANY information was to drive up there and speak to them in person. Even then, I still never spoke to a therapist about how my son was doing or his treatment plan. When I called to see if the doctor had been in that day I was told at 10 AM that he had not come in, yet. When I called back at noon, I was told by a different staff member that the Dr. came and left very early. No one was on the same page or ever gave me any useful information. After 3 days in the facility, I finally received a call from a therapist but that was only AFTER I filled out paperwork to have my child discharged. It was just a 5 minutes "family therapy session" required to proceed with discharging. When I went to pick him up they tried to discharge him with only half of his belongings. It turns out they had everything that he came in with in a plastic container with a question mark on it because they did not know who it belonged to. They also forgot to send him home with the medication that he arrived with. I called the same day at 3:45 PM to ask them about it and I was told the pharmacy was already closed for the day. The next day I received a call that they were still trying to locate his medication and would call me back when they found it. Please do NOT send you children here.
Terrible experience for my mother. When we admitted her , which took more than four hours by the way because we were told conflicting information , we were told she would be immediately transferred to the women’s only unit. On visitation day [which was two days later] I come to find out she hasn’t even taken a shower and not in the unit . Daily phone calls with my mother and I heard in the background the health care workers saying they don’t have to acknowledge the patients and when we were transferring my mother to a different facility instead of making sure she got into the transport vehicle they medically discharged her .
The nursing staffs, tech, Doctors and the case workers are extremely nice and easy to talk to. However, the business administration are hell to get in touch with after multiple phone calls and voicemails. They over charged us telling us that we will get a refund for the difference, which should've never happen in the first place not to mention no billing statement/invoice was ever provided. Now that we are trying to call them to get this sort out, all of sudden they are all no where to be found. This review only reflects on the business administration and billing department. We will be calling our credit card company to dispute this false charges if we don't get any responds from this hospital by the end of today.
I received incredible compassion and assistance from Evelyn. She not only advocated for my elderly mother, she has kept me informed every step of the way. Evelyn has listened and addressed all of my questions and reassuringly guided me through the steps I've needed to take for my mothers care. Evelyn found a placement for when my mother is discharged from BHB and has walked me through the process. I also have received great help from Natalie and she has kept me informed as well. Natalie also understood my specific needs and assisted me. Thank you to everyone at BHB for the compassionate care you have given to my mother. I highly recommend choosing BHB for your family.
If you don’t want to have to spend your entire day getting checked in, get there at 8am. It took them almost 12 hours to get me admitted, from getting from at 2:15pm and not being in my unit until 1:45am. The inpatient program itself was helpful, with round the clock therapy and groups. Don’t bring anything of value because they have a very bad theft issue. My hoodie was stolen out of my room on August 24th and I was discharged the following day on August 25th without my hoodie. I was told if they “couldn’t find it” that I would be reimbursed. This was extremely upsetting as no one had checked the cameras the entire day even though there were 2 right above my room. And the hoodie was custom-made so it’s not something I can just replace. I left my information with several nurses, including nurse Esther, the nurse supervisor, and Nataly the patient advocate. These were the same people who told me I would be reimbursed. I waited a week and no one had gotten back to me, so I called the coordination management department and she still hadn’t checked the cameras. I waited again and still no update. I informed the outpatient therapist that my issue still hadn’t been resolved, so I was given yet another person to call. The property coordinator didn’t get back to me, so I called the patient advocate again and she finally called me back. She then proceeded to tell me that they were not at fault because the hoodie was “in my possession” and that I am not owed anything. This made absolutely no sense to me as my property was logged by the hospital, making them liable for any loss or damages. I’m now having to file a police report so something can actually be done about the situation. I was not the only one they stole from. Three other girls had items “misplaced”, including a shirt, an entire car and car keys, a wallet with all of the patient’s cards and information and their duffel bag. So if you don’t want your valuables stolen don’t leave them with the hospital!!
My mother is 67 years old and struggles with anxiety and depression. Behavioral Hospital took good care of my mother while she was admitted here. Shout out to Evelyn for helping my mother feel better!!
DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! the nurse staff is very friendly & understanding. Dr raza was TERRIBLE. he tells the children a date they are going home & then when the day come they don’t go home which causes them to be upset. NO ONE talked to my child or helped her through her mental problems. She seen dr raza the psychiatrist & he didn’t listen to ANYTHING she said he just told her medicine would fix it after I told them I didn’t want her on any medication. they are suppose to have group therapy & speak to a therapist 1 on 1 everyday & my daughter DID NOT HAVE NEITHER. And then I was told they would call CPS on me for discharging my child AFTER i found out this was the type of place I put my child in. They were NOT HELPING HER AT ALL. this is a horrible hospital & I WILL be filling a lawsuit
