Always so helpful when we go. Always neat and tidy. We just discovered a little play place for children which is a great place to play for a little bit after picking out new books for the week. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. We are always given a toy/craft at checkout at well!
The librarian hides book on Wicca or witchcraft; one of the associates told me explicitly that this was the case. The books are listed on the catalog but magically nowhere to be found. Libraries should be a place of knowledge and should not be edited because of a librarian's personal religious views. Goose Creek branch has better selections & jig saw puzzles to swap.
If you wanna take your kids to a library, this is definitely not the one to go to. One Librarian rolled her eyes as soon as we walked in I have four kids. I know they don’t wanna clean up after us so I made sure to pick every book back where it was supposed to be and made sure my kids kept their voices down. My son turned the screen off to one of the computers when he was done what he does at school and at home and the same lady thought that was the absolute worst thing he could have done. I was going to the computers to make sure everything was picked up when we were done leaving and she gave me such an attitude because he turned off the screen. He’s 6 accidents happen. Never been to a library with such non kid friendly service and I will definitely NEVER go back.
Very peaceful vibe when you walk in is very helpful staff at the desk
I'm a little disappointed in what is my local library.. I called to ask about donating a small box of books, misty hate coverand mostly suspense/thriller genre...and was told to bring them in and they would take them. However, when I took them in i got a different answer. First..the woman at the reception desk looked less than happy to help me. Second, i was told they couldn't take them and didn't even take donations!? After explaining I was told they would accept donations, she asked me if i want to take them to Goodwill!! I politely told her, no i didn't want to take them to Goodwill, i wanted to donate then to my Local Library..but they would not take them at all. Very disappointing experience.
Nice, organized library. Very nice and helpful librarians too! Too much cell phone use in the computer area though. I wish they would ask people to step out when using their phones, it's very distracting!!
I usually have a very pleasant time at this library! Me and my younger daughter. But today, it was harassment after harassment. Maybe it was because we went there about 30 minutes before closing time, but it wasn't a good experience. When we walked in we were greeted as if the librarian were saying, "I know you just walked in, but time to go!" Then there was an issue about my closed water bottle. Next, it was a big deal when my daughter wanted to have an adult coloring page. She can't help it, those are the ones she like to color...It had never been an issue before! Oh well, maybe we'll have a better experience next time.
I have been coming to this library for 22 years now. Yes, back from the tiny outdated building!. I love the staff here more than anywhere else in the world! They are ALWAYS smiling, attentive, patient, and very pleasant to be around. They all are very capable and knowledgeable of any concerns or needs you may have. If not, they WILL find the proper person to assist you. They truly are caring and professional. And with all the new "goodies" continuously being added, free movies, free classes on a wide variety of subjects, self check out on movies, books, cds, this is only an indication of keeping up with the constant demand for a more dedicated "go to place" for people who may not be able to otherwise experience these things. There is ALWAYS, Like weekly, something new and interesting to discover at your local library. And then there are the computers. Free to use. How cool is that? And, if you are not so " tech savvy", there is ALWAYS someone to help you out, in a kind, non-judgmental way. There is a staff member in every single dept. that can make your time less stressful. Be it in research, computer assist, self-checkout, finding a certain book or movie, helping to choose children's books, or young adult- you will be genuinely taken care of. This library is not just about books. You have to make time, and check it out. There are so many other things to learn about. And the atmosphere is very, very comforting. A lounge with a cappuccino machine, the cleanest restrooms I've ever been in, and I will once again state: The most welcome staff of any other place in this town!!
If you are a book dealer or a collector of fine books forget about the Goose Creek Library and the entire Berkeley County Library system. For years, massive amounts of high-quality donations have been stolen by insider thieves under the guise of "Friends of the Library Volunteers". They take nearly all of the marketable items, sell them online, and pocket the funds. Hardly a penny goes to the Library. This scheme is still going on with the help and support of the FOL supervisor at the Goose Creek Library. This is where most of the good stuff is sent for "marketing." How convenient. Thieves can loot from one location rather than driving all over Berkeley County shoving expensive books down their pants snark. The sad part is that the Library Director, Gene Brunson; the Assistant Director, Sharon Fashion; and the president of the FOL, Sue Kelly, are fully aware of what is going on. Either they are incredibly stupid or they are acting in collusion with the thieves. If you have books to donate bypass this place. There are plenty of honest charities in the area which will put your generosity to good use. If you go to the Goose Creek Library watch out for the FOL goon in the picture below. He poses as an Army vet stolen valor and is very territorial, vocal, and threatening towards anybody who he perceives as a threat to his very profitable con. I would love to speak with the Berkeley County attorney and to law enforcement officials about this disgusting scam. I was a volunteer at the Goose Creek Library for several years and have accumulated a mountain of evidence to support my claims.
I give 4 stars. Moncks Corner but I did hear the black woman at the desk telling a patron sarcastically how I came strutting in. I think she could've been a little more professional. I know her name but I chose to be non confrontational.. This happened at
