Bethlehem University Foundation is a United States incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to support Bethlehem University in the Holy Land.
Known as an, “oasis of peace,” in a land characterized by conflict, Bethlehem University was created following the historic 1964 visit of Blessed Pope Paul VI to the Holy Land. The University is a joint venture between the Holy See (Vatican) and the De La Salle Christian Brothers. It is the only Catholic/Christian university in Israel and Palestine. The mission of the University is to provide quality higher education to the people of Palestine and to serve them in its role as a center for the advancement, sharing, and use of knowledge. Bethlehem University aspires to foster shared values, moral principles, and dedication to serving the common good.
The Bethlehem University Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organization entrusted with the sole mission of supporting and promoting Bethlehem University in the United States. The Foundation is the means through which a U.S. citizen can make a tax-deductible gift to Bethlehem University.
The Bethlehem University Foundation is a New Jersey non-profit corporation qualified to do business in the state of Maryland that is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code 0f 1986 and a public charity as described in Code Sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and 509(a)(i).
The purpose of the Foundation, according to the legal articles of incorporation, is:
1. To support and assist Bethlehem University in the Holy Land in its educational mission by providing supplemental funding and other assistance for all of its programs and services;
2. To encourage renewed commitment to the University as a center of quality education and as the most effective educational instrument available to teach, to build community, and to provide service for the needs of the community and to seek and obtain funds or property in any form to be used for the benefit of the University;
3. To provide a depository for gifts and bequests of all kinds and also to serve as a receptacle for receiving and managing these gifts that specify a certain purpose or program of the University as its beneficiary according to the established desire of the donor; and
4. To act as a trustee under any trust incidental to the purposes of the Corporation and to receive, hold, administer, and expend funds and property subject to such trust.
