We went on a Monday with scattered showers forecast. Parking is free on weekdays. We were the only ones on the beach besides 1 guy fishing. The sand was nice and soft, with 2 main beach areas. We saw a few small jellyfish, a crane, a large blue crab the fisherman had caught and a few other bug size sea life critters. Water was warm end of August and we were told fishing folks would see a nice surge in September and October in this area. Overall very nice free park with multiple trails, clean beaches, and port-a-potties available. Restrooms: Port a potties at the entrance and supposedly more near the beach per the staff person at the entrance. Dog-friendliness: Saw one man walking his dog along the beach and he said he really enjoyed the beach as well as the "Pond trail" which is about 2 miles along around a lake very close to the beach.
Very beautiful but small beach. The water is not that deep, which is perfect for kids of all ages to have a good time. Just make sure to go online and get a reservation. They may sell out. Great place to enjoy a small beach trip without the fear of the deep water. Must go again.
First time going and it’s a very beautiful place to go out with kids nice and clean water and surroundings.Nice view and great area to walk around and chill and relax definitely recommend!
Grand opening was today, not everything is completed, but it is a very nice renovated park. Dog-friendliness: Several dogs on leashes attended the ribbon cutting... Picnic area: Nice pavilion with picnic tables named for Rick Anthony. The former resident and person who got this reservation started
Went walking today on a cloudy day. What a delightful park. Trails were well marked and very well maintained with narrow board walks through the muddy parts. Walked around the pond and down to the beach. Delightful. Dog friendly also. We saw a box turtle and deer.
Bring a trash bag when you go to the beach. The area itself is nice but the port-a-potties are far, few, and dirty and there are no trash cans, so people leave a lot of trash on the beach. We had to collect trash before we had a spot to set our blanket on.
Lovely trails through woodland along the bay with beach area. Relatively handicap friendly as you can drive someone down to the beach and drop off. Then a short distance to beach. Can't park near beach. Fishing pond with trails as well.
Nice little beach. It’s less crowded and not very deep water so you can’t swim but kids would definitely enjoy this place. There’s some trails, picnic areas and park entrance isn’t attractive and parking is just on the grasslands. Our kids have enjoyed the beach and spent almost 3 hours in the water. There’s a lot of other water sports going on there but apart from beach it could be better.
Free park with a mile of beaches. Lots of mostly flat walking trails. Can launch kayak/sup from beach. Nice you can drive to beach to load and unload kayaks. Can wade in water. Not supposed to swim but many still do. Sometimes no swimming is enforced. Close paddle to mayo beach. There are rock breakers that protect the water but it is near very open water so still can get rough. Parking is in field then walk 1/4 mile to beach. Park Rangers are strict with alcohol so don't drink or hide or could get fined. Lots of good fishing spots too. Not much shade bring canopy or umbrella in summer.
Nice little park to walk and the beach/es are really nice also. There’re different banks of beaches so it’s like your own private little area per say. It’s nice for kids to run on the trails and to walk the dog.
