Beyond Words Gallery features works by Amherst College students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Beyond Words is meant to encourage a broader participation and appreciation of the arts in the Amherst community.
Located on the 2nd floor of Robert Frost Library, Beyond Words Gallery offers a public exhibition space open to artists of the entire Amherst College community, including (especially) non-studio art majors. Exhibition cycles vary depending on availability, but all interested artists are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. Due to space limitations, Beyond Words Gallery is only able to display 2-dimensional work - paintings, photography, prints, etc. We'd like to emphasize that Beyond Words Gallery is open to artists of all levels - beginner through advanced artists are all qualified to share their work with the Amherst community!
To submit an entry to Beyond Words Gallery, email [email protected] with:
1) Your name and affiliation with the college (class year, etc.)
2) A picture (or detailed description) of the work(s) you would like to display. Please keep in mind that only 2-dimensional works can be displayed. You can submit as few or as many works that you like.
3) Approximate dimensions of the artworks
4) A brief bio about your engagement with art (art classes, personal inspiration, etc.)
One of the student curators will be in touch with you about your submission, and to discuss the details of the exhibition cycle/installation.
*Beyond Words Gallery can provide frames in multiple sizes, and all installation equipment, free of charge. The gallery uses a hook and rod system to hang objects on the wall. All other costs of production (photography printing, cost of transportation, art supplies) are the responsibility of the artist.*
