Cool museum! We went on a hot day and everyone was still so nice. Super cool artifacts. Lots of things to see. Mostly outdoor. There is a picnic area and they encourage you to bring lunch and enjoy your day there. $5 for adults entranceVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Amazing historical museum, lots of buildings to explore, free gold panning for kids, and don’t miss the blacksmith demonstration! We learned a lot about the area, highly recommend.
Great local museum. Of note this museum consists of several out buildings that you have to walk between. This makes for a very hot experience on a warm summer day. Thank goodness they sold cold bottled root beer for $2 which helped keep moral high. The grounds are loose gravel and sand. You can see all the exhibits in about an hour. The kid's favorite was panning for gold. You can purchase a small vial in the gift shop for 50 cents to bring some "gold" aka fool's Gold, home with you. All of the volunteers at the museum were incredible! Such a wealth of knowledge and interesting facts they really made the experience.
I loved this Museum. Everyone was really nice and they had someone to tell you a little about what you where looking at. I loved it. I would go back even if I have seen everything. Sometime you might think you have seen it all till you go back and have a second look. Go check them out!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
This place is filled with history and knowledge of the mountain ants surrounding areas. Great for kids and adults. They have life blacksmith presentations. My son got to take home a hand made butter knife. Blunted of course. Packing for gold is free and fun as well. The workers add as volunteers are so informative and a lot of them are part of the history as well. A must see if visiting Big Bear. Can't beat the knowledge and experience. Especially for only $5.
This was a surprisingly fun experience. Expect to spend an hour to an hour and a half here. The blacksmith shop does demonstrations and is very happy to answer questions. The gold panning is fantastic. This is a must if you visit the lake area.
Great museum, only $5 for adults and children are free. Includes gold panning and blacksmith demonstration which they gave a free gift.

First time here. The family had a great time. Nice history lesson of Big Bear. Kids had a blast trying too find gold. Pricing is very good. Will definitely return with the family..
I haven't been to this place since I was a teenager. It was so neat, Big Bear Museum was very interesting. I've never seen it before and there was several small buildings to go through. People were friendly and told us a lot about the place. It's a must see if you like museums.
