Worked here for 14 years and only left because I moved out of the area. Had a lot of fun working with the Bill’s Fam and met a lot of great people. Customers became friends and coworkers became family. The mission is to help people with their musical wants and needs, helping them create music!
TLDR: Bill's Music House in Catonsville, MD is better than Amazon, Facebook Marketplace, Guitar Center and any other music store I've ever been to! I wanted a djembe drum, but wanted to try it out before I bought it. I first went to Guitar Center in Glen Burnie, but they only had two very small drums and they both sounded terrible! Then I googled music stores and found Bill's in Catonsville. I drove from Guitar Center straight to Bill's and found the djembe jackpot!! They had an entire collection ranging from wood carved and goatskin to synthetic Toca brands. I tried all of them out and spent a great deal of time there, but I didn't feel pressured at all to just buy and leave. I ended up picking a wonderful djembe drum at a reasonably afforadble price. I walked up to the counter with my large djembe and the employee who helped me, Christian, offered to carry it to my car. I told him how amazing the instrumet selection was and he suggested I sign up for the rewards program, and also mentioned that they also buy used instruments. I own multiple guitars, so I asked if I could go home and bring my Martin backpacker guitar I never really played anymore in for store credit. Christian said absolutely and offered to keep my djembe behind the counter. I drove home and when I got back to the store it only took me 10 minutes to get an estimate for my guitar. Since it was a reasonable offer I took the store credit and used it towards the djembe. Overall I am super satisfied with my purchase! I got rid of a guitar I didn't really have any use for and I walked away with an instrument that will last me a lifetime. I would recommend this music store to anyone who is looking for high quality products as well as fair & honorable business practices.
This place has been in the Catonsville area for a long time - Frederick road right across ftom State Fare Resturaunt - Plenty of parking on the front and side of the building. Great customer service and product knowlege - anyone lookong to buy -sell - trade instruments in and around Catonsville they should surely stop here first
Excellent and welcoming music store! Recently had a great experience buying a new guitar amp with the help of Drew - incredibly helpful and not pushy in the slightest! Just a wonderful salesperson, he set me up in the whisper room so I could test out two amps side by side with the volume cranked. The amp I wanted had some extra hum so they fixed it up threw in a new tube & I bought it the week after. Highly recommend the place!
I had a great experience buying a Taylor Dreadnought acoustic that was on consignment. Ernesto was a great help and was more interested in selling me the right guitar for my music interests and playing comfort than trying to sell me more expensive instruments. It fits me perfectly and I’m enjoying getting to know it immensely! I highly recommend This amazing music store!
Everyone at Bill's Music is great! I had an issue with my external audio card for my computer and they were able to help find a solution. It's part of the reason I keep going back. It's locally owned and operated so it feels good to support a business in the neighborhood. Nino was a great help and very knowledgeable. The selection is great and if they don't have it they'll find it for you.
I was doing a last minute search for a reasonably priced used guitar. After searching in the places closer to my home, I came up empty handed. Every place I called had guitars way out of my price range. I remembered seeing Bills Music when I drove through Catonsville and gave them a call. Ernesto was exactly the right person for me. He did some looking and gave great recommendations. I got the best guitar and my adult son a proficient guitar player was thrilled. From now on I will make Bills Music my first stop when searching for instruments. And will highly recommend Ernesto for his knowledge and excellent customer service.
I dropped off a guitar for repairs - Ron & Gib have been taking care of my guitars for a long time and do fantastic work - and on my way out spotted a used Telecaster that I just had to check out. Ernesto set me up with an amp that he probably knew would bring out the best in the Tele, and a half hour later I made what wasn't my first impulse buy at Bill's. They've got a great selection of new and used guitars and amps, so it's bound to happen now and then.
BMH is a great local music store. Always helpful staff and great selection of gear. Recently traded a couple of guitars and got decent money. Yes you could sell for more on your own, but I am too busy - so very convenient. Spent a couple of hours testing two guitars on an amp I use. Ended up with a guitar I play all the time.
The Best. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Looks like a great place to tap into your creative side. My Son has music lessons here. He loves it!. Ryan is the best! They have suggestions and knowledge. We purchased a strap lock and tuner and an Amp cord.
