I cannot even give more stars. 10/10 if I could. I am a black, first time mom and was so afraid of all the things you hear about being treated badly or having a high maternal death rate and etc. the ENTIRE staff for my entire stay here made the labor, delivery, and my sons first few days of life unforgettable. I cried several times saying good bye to my nurses. They made sure every need, question were met and answered. Any self doubt I had they uplifted me. The staff I got was a dream come true, I hope every mother gets to experience the support, love and care that my son and I did. I would like to say thank you again specifically to my labor and delivery nurses Margaret & Josie - I had an unplanned c-section and they made it a dream for me although it wasn’t my plan I was comforted, laughing, they made sure to keep me with my newborn as much as possible and kept me comfortable and positive. Then my post partum nurses Jamie, Tina & Student, Skylar - I am so grateful for you all. Thank you for loving your careers. It truly showed. You all were beyond amazing staff and women: thank you for every moment and starting my motherhood journey off in such a great way. I would do it all over again. The rooms were updated and comfortable, my staff was always punctual and efficient. Happy, helpful and caring experience. I could really go on and on. I have 0 complaints.
The birthing team I had at this hospital were great but unfortunately I did not feel the same with the postpartum unit there. Especially with one of the postpartum nurses we were assigned, I believe her name was Katie. She was just overall nonchalant & barely made the effort to cater to our needs or our baby's needs. At one point she said they didn't have a nursery at the hospital to care for our newborn? Then when my husband reached out to another nurse...she all of sudden confirms there is a nursery?? On the 2nd day, she literally returns our newborn from the nursery after 5 mins because she cried & said she would wake the other newborns...but when she was in our room she was pretty much quiet & also aren't the people in the nursery trained to soothe babies?? I guess it really just depends on who you get ..but all the other postpartum nurses we had were okay but they weren't really compassionate or caring so they didn't really meet our expectations either. Lastly, the hospital decided to discharge our newborn before me & therefore refused to "cater to our baby" afterwards & I was also not allowed to be with her alone so someone else would always have to be in the room with me or if they left the room even for a bathroom break they would have to take the newborn with which was ridiculous?! Due to this experience, I don't think I ever want to come back to this horrible place.
I could never be able to thank the magnificent staff at Southdale birthplace. My biggest fear was I didn’t want to be another statistic for the black mortality in America. Dr. Enadeghe is truly one of a kind. I don’t think I would have being able to deliver if it wasn’t for her. Forever grateful. She listened to all my concerns and gave her recommendations. And her trusted her throughout the whole process. I saw Dr. Masters during my prenatal appointment and she was superb. During my delivery my wonderful nurse Jill S, was more than a L/D nurse. She helped me through my panic attack. Will highly recommend this place and thank you all so much. Nurse Ancy was amazing. Katie was a sweetheart. The whole team, AMAZING. Kudos to Tiffany, working during her third trimester. A total doll. I am forever grateful to the team. The only down side was it took forever to order food, haha and your spouse have to pay. Otherwise my experience was wonderful.
The birthing center nursing staff were exceptional and exceeded our expectations in every way. They talked us through everything so that we had no surprises. They took the time to talk to us and answer every question and I had a lot. We never felt rushed and always had their full attention. We felt that my wife and daughter were always getting the best in medical care from them and they genuinely cared about us and the medical care we received. We only had 4 nurses during our delivery and short stay but I'm sure the entire nursing staff performs to this caliber. We were often asked by all the nurses "Is there anything I can get you to help you be more comfortable". And that kind of sums up the kind of care that we received. They worked diligently to care for us. I can very honestly say that these nurses completely define my opinion of superior medical care.
We had our baby boy delivered at The Birthplace and we’re very happy about the whole experience. Our provider and the nurses here are exceptional. We are very grateful for having Nurse Sara, Nancy and the other wonderful nurses for making child birth a very positive and memorable experience. Thank you!
Nurses were great post recovery. 3 stars instead of 5 because of an incident while I was going into surgery since we ended up here due to an emergency c section - our kids came with us because unfortunately we didn't have a 3am plan and no one was available on short notice to come help at that time. Hospital policy is for 5+ age which in a normal situation is understandable but one of the staff who wasn't directly involved in my care was in my medical info and "discovered" that our 4 yo was along for the rodeo. This staff member was repeatedly telling my husband who was supporting me to get the kids out due to the new hospital policy that makes no sense because the 4yo is vaccinated for COVID, etc. There doesn't seem to be a compassion policy in place for situations that are obviously going to arise.
I gave birth to my first baby here just recently. I feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful experience. The nurses sat at the bedside with me and took the time to teach me how to care and feed my new baby. They were so positive and kind. My midwives were amazing as well. It was such an empowering experience.
I delivered my first baby in July at Fairview southdale Hospital, I cannot say enough about how wonderful All the providers were through the entire process. From my urgent admission to antepartum, then having a C-section A few days after, and staying for a week to control my preeclampsia. The nurses were wonderful through all of it, they took the time to sit down at my bedside and answer all the questions that I had through the entire process. I felt heard validated and taken care of the whole time I was there. It was not the easiest or idealist experience delivering your first born prematurely but having those nurses around definitely helped me understand what I needed and they were so helpful in teaching me a lot of things that I needed to do in terms of breast-feeding and pumping postpartum while I didn’t have my baby at home Shout out to all the amazing nurses especially Jessica and Kenzie you ladies were the most amazing and graceful nurses I have ever come across. I highly recommend considering this amazing hospital for labor and delivery, postpartum and neonatal care.
I had my first baby girl in March. All the staffs was super helpful and they did a great job. Carrie D was my nurse during my labor. She’s absolutely fantastic. I can’t find the word to describe how amazing she was. Her care was impeccable and I can't say enough for the extra tender, but professional care she provided me and my husband and my baby girl during this pandemic. I would never forget my experience as it was one of the best experiences that I could've been to. Thank you so much Carrie for all you have done for me and my family. I would recommend this place for all mothers who seeking for the best care.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience here. Every single nurse Steph, Heather, Jodi, Elaina, Katie, and many more went above and beyond for physical and emotional comfort. The doctor Dr Zhang who delivered my baby had even stayed past her shift to maintain continuity throughout a scary delivery. I truly don’t believe my baby would be here without each of them having quick thinking, a calm nature, and undeniable L&D knowledge and skill. I fully plan on returning and would recommend them to any first time mom or mom looking for a birthplace.
