Nice bar. We had a variety of food at a table on the patio. My burger was cooked perfectly and the blackened seasoning was just the right amount, not overpowering, very tasty. It was a lot of burger, could have used a beefier bun. Wings were tasty, beers were decently priced, fries were fried out of a bag I didn't notice at the time that my options were fresh-cut fries OR steak-cut fries. I'll try the fresh cut next time and the place is generally sort of clean. It's the kind of bar where the lock on the bathroom door is broken. And the toilet paper holder is broken. Still, tasty food!
I love this little bar on White Street. The staff are always friendly and smiling, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The upgrades to the place over the past few years shows how dedicated they are to the happiness of their patrons. It's definitely worth checking out, and I more than recommend stopping in for a drink, or a few.
Food was actually really good and I've never had a bad time here. Even with the biker dudes all over the place, it's still relaxed and friendly. But there is always an issue with the beer. No refrigeration, kegs kicked, taps not in use, minimal bottle selection... and there's only ever basic stuff on anyway. Coors, Guiness,... why does it say "Brewpub?"
Seems to have some product storage and stocking issues. Had a large party reservation days in advance and it was brought to our attention halfway through ordering that they only had 3 burger patties left. We were told we could wait until their shipment arrived, but they didn't know when that would be. Some of the kegs were kicked or foaming like crazy. Also, an employee was using very loud power tools on the front door 15 feet away from our table on full blast. He had the door wide open in the middle of December and I can remember our entire table just not being able to believe how crazy it was that we all had to keep our coats on the whole time.
The old working class neighborhoods of Cohoes haven't seen gentrification yet, so this Brilliant spot stands out as a keeper and a frequent flyer. John, the owner and cook, couldn't be more genuine and gentile. Frank the bartender couldn't be more cordial and polite. The place has a Bucket-of-Blood feel to it without a dangerous aspect. Just local folks Enjoying their time out looking for respect from the newbies. I'd be proud to earn the right to be a local here! Enjoy and be respectful and enjoy the great.food and drink!
Most of the food is ok. But Friday fish fry is THE BEST. The inside of the restaurant is outdated, and not the best looking. Mostly friendly people drinking and keeping to themselves at the bar area pretty much throughout the day.
I would give this place NO STARS if it was possible. Just don't go. I used to work there years ago. I used to watch the owner pour cheap vodka into the Absolute bottles in the basement. He asked me to 'clean the place up', by getting rid of some of the riffraff. When I did, he had someone else fire me because he didn't have the balls to face me himself. Cleanliness of the place depends on who's working. Again - I worked there 10 years ago but still the same owner, so I wouldn' be surprised if nothing has changed.
Good "dive/biker bar". Good food but no draft beer and selection is minimal. Nice new deck area when weather permits and local bands and DJs.
Awesome food every time. For such a small tavern they rock pretty well when it comes to great menu choices and good food. This is the place that my family and I get take-out or delivery from when we want damn good food.
Classic dive bar located in Cohoes, NY. I visited here only once, but immediately recognized the economical drinkers consuming beers from buckets, the loud conversation about current events -sports & local history- and the stale taste of tap beer as the hallmarks of a unabashed dive. I wouldn't eat the food, but I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. You have to know what you're getting into and be open to the experience.
