Old fashioned bar with hints of an British pub. It is a lot bigger than the outside entrance would suggest with 3 areas; the main bar, comfortable lounge area and secondary bar/dining room. The food is classic pub food we had the burgers, sandwich and soup plus they have a very good beer and drink selection. Can't wait for colder weather to check out the fireplace.
Great atmosphere for sure. I hope they expand their menu with specials. I ordered the chicken parm, but didn't want the fettuccine. I asked if they could substitute the pasta for the whipped potatoes I saw in another dish and was so happy when they allowed the change. I luv'd my combo and will definitely return. Parking: Small lot next door. Could fit about 25 cars. Plus, street parking.
Nice atmosphere and service. My chicken Cesear sandwich was completely overwhelmed with the large sub roll. Every bite was a mouthful of bread. Partner said vodka cutlet sandwich lacked sauce but otherwise good. We wouldn’t order either of those two menu items again but are excited to try the other options. Neighboring table ordered pizza which looked delicious.
I totally agree with Owen's review. More of a bar than restaurant. Limited dinner menu which was a favorite of ours with previous Smith's. Odd dining room seating and inadequate. Dinner was nearly an hour coming out but the lemon crusted haddock was very good. Our server, Jordan, was very attentive and did comp us for the delay and poor seating. We'll probably try again without expectation of the menu at previous Smith's but in no rush. Parking: Parking lot was full
Better bar than a restaurant. Came in and was immediately confused about how to get a table. There is a host/hostess station toward the back of the room, but there wasn't anyone there so it was just kind of awkwardly trying to get someone's attention and figure it out. And it was very loud. Then came to find that the menu was missing a lot of items compared to the one on the website. So the things we specifically came for weren't available. Our server checked on us frequently and was very knowledgeable about drinks and general goings-on. Beer collaboration that they had with a local brewery was an extraordinarily good pilsner. Ended up having another. Appetizers were out very quickly but entrees took a considerable amount of timewhich our server acknowledged and made good effort to compensate us for but were well-prepared and tasted great. The expense was comparable to most places of the same type in the area. I will say I felt the portion size of my entree was a bit small. As a guy who weighs about 160 who had three pints of beer alongside it, I still left a bit hungry. So I don't have anything particularly venomous to say about the place. I certainly wouldn't avoid it or tell people to, but I'm not in a hurry to get back. Parking: Pretty difficult to find a parking spot in the general area. Not impossible, but we ended up making a few loops around some blocks to find something. Lots were all full and no spots on-street.
The place couldn't be more spot on gorgeous. The bar is beautiful. They wait staff and bartenders wonderful but the food experience was substandard. I was out with friends. My burger was a burned hockey puck. My friends hot fried chicken sandwich was also almost burnt. The bun was. Another's friends steak sandwich was practically inedible because the meat was so tough. Another's pizza was salty and the dough not crispy. It seemed almost pre frozen. I had three gin and tonics and felt zero buzzed. I wasn't driving. So the pours are short. I got the feeling the food was all Cisco stuff. I'm definitely going to go again because I love the atmosphere and the bar but I'm not going order any more food.
We just held a surprise birthday for my mother at Smiths Public House. They staff was amazing, accommodating and the food was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone looking for solid atmosphere and dining in the capital region!Food: 5/5
Good service and atmosphere, extremely overpriced bland food. French onion soup doesn’t taste like onions, Showstopper sandwich bland with overly spicy peppers to cover up lack of creativity. Also the air conditioner kept dripping on me. Good place to get a drink and nothing else.Food: 1/5
A spectacular venue nestled in the heart of this old manufacturing city. New owner, Rob Tario, has done an outstanding job creating a classic Public House vibe to the joint, whilst still remaining true to its classic origins. Beautiful woodwork, impeccable tile floors, and amazing tin ceilings delight the publican at every turn. Go and enjoy, and listen to the cheers of the weavers from the 19th century who hoisted many-a-pint in this Gem of the Spindle City!
Glad to see they kept a lot of the old style. Beautiful old bar. Food was delicious, fun atmosphere and friendly staff.Food: 5/5
