Description

Blackberry Farm is a living history museum on 54 scenic acres with a lake, ponds and a meandering stream. The grounds contain an arboretum with more than 200 varieties of trees, floral displays and historic agricultural gardens.

Blackberry Farm has five museums including the Carriage House, the Farm Museum, the Early Streets Museum and the Huntoon House. These contain an outstanding collection of late 19th century artifacts used in every facet of life. In the Carriage House, there are 40 carriages, sleighs and commercial vehicles. The Farm collection has many rare implements dating from the mid-1800s to 1910. The Streets Museum houses 11 late Victorian-era exhibit stores including a music shop, pharmacy, general store, photography shop and toy store.

Many period craft demonstrations bring Blackberry Farm to life. Visitors can watch demonstrations of blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, sewing and pottery, as well as visit a one room schoolhouse, an Aurora home from the 1840s, and a farm cabin. In each area, demonstrators depict activities and life of the bygone era.

Children and their parents will enjoy a ride on the restored miniature train to visit the pioneer cabin, where they can take an old-fashioned hay wagon ride along Blackberry Creek. Back at the village, they can ride the carousel, paddle boats or the ponies.

Food is available at the outdoor Summer Kitchen that overlooks a pond with a spraying fountain. Visitors may bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the picnic groves along the lake shore.

The Gift Shop, located in the town square, carries handcrafted textiles and pottery made in the park. Special orders are also taken. For more information or reservations, call 630-892-1550.

I visited this small farm place recently, and it was an absolute delight! The variety of activities they offered made it a perfect family outing. The petting zoo was a hit with kids and adults alike, and the train and tractor rides added a fun touch of adventure. The boat ride was a relaxing experience, providing a nice change of pace. The overall atmosphere was charming and inviting, and I would highly recommend it for a wholesome day of outdoor fun!
Nice place for kids to spend time. Lot of picnic spots with tables to sit under trees. Carousel, pony rides, train ride which takes a loop around lake, paddle boats, kids park, animal feeding and many other activities to kill time. It does have facility for private parties and groups which has decent space to play outdoor games as well. Overall a good place to spend half a day.

We went for a birthday party which was really nice. Lots of activities for little kids to stay busy. The grounds are beautiful. During our train ride the employee driving thought it was a good idea to stop the train and start screaming at a little girl... The situation was not that serious and him screaming at this little girl was uncalled for but ok.. moving forward. A couple minutes later, we pull up to the train depot, and the train fully stops. All the passengers get off and start walking away. The same employee starts yelling at everyone telling us to get back on, that he was not done pulling in yet! We all stop and look at the employee confused. At the point, we are already off the train and walking away, we are not getting back on... The employee throws his hands in the air and says, OK that's fine, I wasn't done yet but whatever and starts mumbling under his breath... not sure if he was having a bad day but my husband, the dad of the little girl he yelled at and a few other men on the train had to bite down and walk away... this employee was out of line and should not be allowed to work around customers. Not sure if we will return to this place and if we do, we are going to avoid this guy.. hopefully he will no longer be working there..
It was great. We attended a birthday party here and we loved it. Rides are great for small kids. A tiny zoo is also there. You can purchase food and feed the animals. Highlight of the park is the mini train for me. We didn't try boating but it's there. Lots of play areas and slides for kids. It's beautiful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$6–10
What a wonderful place to bring children to play, learn about history of those who lived on the plains long ago. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The lines moved quickly for things like the pony ride and train. Bathrooms were clean. Easy parking. Overall a beautiful green environment with lots to do.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
This place is real pleasure for kids and adults. Very clean and rides are awesome. Its cheap compare to other places and rides are included in your entrance fees.
Must go if you have a kid. Lots of activities like boating , pony riding, wagon ride, train ride , pottery , carasoul, schoolhouse , playhouse, small farm having goats cow roosters etc. Best of all you have to pay only once at the time of entrance. Our kid was enjoying there whole time .
Lots of fun for children! Pony rides, paddle boats, merry-go-round, petting zoo, train, playground up to age 12, tricycle area, living history reenactment one-room schoolhouse teacher, blacksmith, etc. Current price is $10 per adult or child for the day. Outside food is allowed, and there are picnic tables. The park is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Buy a ticket on the website and skip the admission line.
Distracted and sleeping carousel operator. Another parent warned her child almost fell off the ride and the operator refused to stop the ride. Went to the pony ride, waited ~10-15 minutes in line. Then, with only 5 children in line, staff decided to close rides to give ponies "15 minute break". Except it was more like 40 minutes before they resumed pony rides. Same parent that warned about carousel operator remarked that almost all staff at Blackberry Farm were rude to her and their 5 children.
