We took a guest over for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The ordering system did take us a minute to figure out but once we knew what to do, it was a breeze. We ordered the home fries with the black bird egg specials and caprese panini. Washed it all down with cappuccinos and hot cafe which was a perfect end to a satisfying meal! I was busy eating that I forgot to take pics of the food! Will definitely visit again
Food is very good. Turkey pesto panini was delicious. We were required to pay using their app as the register was closed, so assume you are required to use their app. The vibe is kinda weird.Food: 5/5
I stopped in here for lunch. There are touch screens to place your order. You then seat yourself. My drink was delivered before I even sat down and the food came out very quickly. I had a turkey club sandwich with pickles and it came with chips. It was delicious. Parking: I was able to park right near the restaurant.
My recent visit to this cafe left me with a mix of impressions. On the one hand, it had a cozy charm with its lovely wallpaper, but on the other, it had a few quirks that could be improved. First, the order has to be placed on a kiosk and there were only two, it could be overwhelming for a newcomer. It took quite a while to decide what to order, especially with the long line of people eager to make their selections. The cafe has very limited staff. One downside was the limited seating; it's a cute spot, but there simply weren't enough tables, especially when it got busy on weekends. Many times, the food was ready before I could find an open spot to enjoy my meal. Now, onto the bright side – the food. It was truly outstanding. The vegetable panini was a standout, bursting with flavors and perfectly grilled. It was a medley of taste sensations that I would order again in a heartbeat. The Mediterranean salad was also a winner, offering a fresh and healthy option with a satisfying mix of ingredients. In conclusion, this cafe has its quirks, especially during peak hours, but the quality and variety of their food make it worth a visit. Just be prepared for a potentially lengthy ordering process and the challenge of finding a table. Once you're settled, you're in for a delightful culinary experience!
I have to say - I'm so disappointed. The renovations make this cafe feel cold and unwelcoming. The staff is busy and doesn't interact, which just adds to that feel. I used to come here before the reno and it was such an adorable, cozy spot. I'm so sad this was lost. The food seems to have decreased in quality, especially for the price. There is a non-optional 12% fee to the meal as a service charge. I'm not sure why this isn't just folded into the prices. We also had an issue with one order asked for eggs & veg w.o cheese and it came w cheese. They brought out more eggs without veg. We asked for veg and the staff said "honestly, kitchen is busy, so it'll be a while"... you guys made the mistake?! We also were not greeted by anyone - no one was at the front and no one came to our table to say hello. I don't think I'll be returning.
Called to order two quick salads, was told they don't take phone orders. Okay, it took me longer to do online than it would have been to just say what I wanted. One salad was supposed to have quinoa in it, but didn't. The other was supposed to have roasted corn, and didn't. The dressing sides were in the wrong salad boxes, as well. Otherwise, lovely, fresh ingredients.
Maybe this is the way the world will be now, but it's super impersonal to order your eggs and toast from a touchscreen in such a small restaurant. We're social animals and we crave social interactions and removing the server relationship removes one of the joys of taking yourself out for breakfast on a weekend morning. Next time I want eggs and toast from this place I will just order a delivery from doordash and have essentially the same experience as dining in and I won't have to drive to the restaurant. Food was good though. They're doing that right.
I am highly disappointed with this experience and would not recommend, especially to vegetarians. I ordered the Maple Sausage Waffle Sandwich $14.40 and a side of Home Fries $6.00. I was attracted by the vegetarian substitute options, so I ordered the sandwich with veggie sausage substituted for pork sausage... but the sandwich arrived with what looked like a single small frozen veggie patty cut in half, which covered less than a third of the length of the sandwich. The waffle was soggy and the eggs were cold, and I had to reassemble the sandwich after taking it out of the box. Beyond that, the restaurant sent me what looked like diced chicken instead of my Home Fries. I don't know if this was an intentional change or not, but it was a poor substitute given that I had asked for a vegetarian option. $6 for Home Fries and $14 for a sandwich is steep as is, but I didn't get one of the two things I ordered and what I did get was a sloppy and cold mess.
I last went to Blackbird in 2018. It was rustic, inviting, wholesome, and warm. Today, after moving out of state for 4 years I come back into this cold, uninviting, modern, NY style like booth with two screens to order my drink/food. No person greeting met with a smile, no "how are you today!?" a screen, and directions. I'm very disappointed and I do understand Covid might have put a damper on their business, but I will not be returning. It was also grossly overpriced for a breakfast sandwich & iced coffee.
A 12% “house fee” is ridiculous in an establishment where you aren’t even greeted by a human and the beverages are grossly overpriced to begin with $6+ for hot tea with oat milk?!? Paying your staff minimum wage is nothing to brag about - most businesses manage to meet this bare minimum of legality and decency without a surcharge. Just raise your prices 12% if that’s what it takes to run your business.
