My favorite metro park! We love the natural play ground. It's fun for all ages. We have also enjoyed the nature center and the bird watching window. It was a great educational activity for my children. The nature center also had bathrooms, which is so nice in the winter.
This is one of the famous park in Columbus area. This one is located next to intersection of I-71 and 161. This is very big park with different sections. One of my favorite is the natural playground. I have added most of the pics kids love this one as this is made up of all words and natural trail. You will have enough area for barbecue and your picnic. Each area has its own parking and shelters. Most of the area has kids playground as well. Best for one day outing in spring/summer/ fall. Lot of trees and trails so you will love it.
A nice little metro park with shelters, clean trails, clean restrooms, and playground equipment. I stopped in the afternoon between appointments and was able to walk a few trails. The weekday afternoon in July was very busy. There were a lot of little kids.
One of the Columbus area Metro Parks, Blendon Woods is conveniently located near I-270 and state route 161. The main entrance on E Dublin-Granville Road ushers visitors into the park with a gorgeous hilly drive that leads to the nature center at the southeastern end. From this parking lot, you can access several of the trailheads. The walking trails here are short and generally flat, so not difficult in terms of elevation change, which makes it very family friendly. Some of the trails connect to others. The longest trail is Sugarbush, which is "unimproved" - meaning a natural surface that can be quite muddy if it has recently rained. The Lake Trail leads to a pair of observation shelters that overlook Thoreau Lake. There are playgrounds and restrooms throughout the park, picnic shelters, and a disc golf course, if that's your thing. Something for everyone!
The new play structure is really nice for bigger kids too! Mine are 8 and 10 yrs old. The natural play area is a fun place to explore. We ended up taking the less traveled path and waded through the winding creek until we found another dirt path. The creek is really shallow and my kids loved it! We were a little bummed that they removed the zipline.
The falls colors were great at Blendon Woods Metro Park today. The trails, although covered by leaves were in good shape and at the end of my hike the sun came out.
Great quick getaway from the busy world. Calming trails, not terribly crowded and a calming environment. You can expect to see woodland creatures, waterfowl and more on your visit depending on the area of the park you'll visit.
Brendon is beautiful right now. I walked along the story trail to the two bird blinds and there was gorgeous color everywhere. I love Autumn in Ohio and Blendon Woods is a great place to experience it with your whole family.
We went on the Lantern Hike. The rangers and volunteers were wonderful. I don't know how they arranged for the light snow, but it was lovely. They ran 2 options, one for short legged people, and one for the more serious hikers.
Great day to hike at Blendon Woods! Did the Sugarbush trail and caught a glimpse of an owl along the way. I love how quiet and peaceful the park is compared to others.
