Nice state park very scenic. One of the smaller parks I've been too lately and didn't have a whole lot of trails. Visit the fire tower in the state forest, it is very cool and worth the gravel road drive and walk up the old stairs. Upper camp is more of a horse camp with pit toilets lower camp has nicer bathrooms. Only showers were at the beach area, still open in mid october but dont know if they keep them open all winter. Lots of firewood on site, at least in upper camp.
Beach could be cleaned up a lil better. Campsites we're pretty nice love the creek flowing thru the sites. Shelter house and the one bathroom with water was nice. The lady that worked in gift shop super nice. Camp store wasn't over priced. We had a great weekend! Dog-friendliness: We brought our 67lb pitt mix and we seen a great Dane there. Love that it's pet friendly. Picnic area: Nice big shelter house by bathrooms by cabins.
Very nice and secluded campground and beach. The beach was one is the cleanest I have seen in a state park with regards to the sand and the water. Typically the water is a little murky, but the lake was very clear! The campground is very rustic. No electricity is available. Water is available and a dump station. But the sites have no utilities. Cell phone coverage was nonexistent... at least for me. There was a pay phone available at the restroom. I have not seen one of those in a very long time! I do not fish, but the creek that runs through the campground had a few folks fishing in it. The beach had canoe rentals as well as ice cream! Definitely a park to go if you really want to get away from it all!
A Pretty relaxed pre-season atmosphere. Hiking in the line stands was beautiful. Not too many people there just yet. Definitely going back.
Drive thru to check it out. Looks like we'll be taking the tent there soon. Not sure I would take the camper. Nicole at the camp store was awesome. Super friendly and helpful. Great selection of items, especially for a smaller park.
Swimming in the beach area is nice. Clean facilities. Fishing is decent again since draining the lake. It is our favorite place to camp. Secluded with nice hiking trails and fishing at the creek that runs through the grounds. The firetower is a nice visit if you dare to climb to the top. Boat rentals are cheap and fun.
Beautiful place, especially in October. Well maintained although the restrooms could use some attention. A lot of large trees and foliage, and rolling hills. Clean but small lake with beach. Had a fun experience hiking the trail around the lake. We did not camp but drove around the sites. They are fairly secluded with several large trees and a creek that runs through the middle of the grounds. I saw a few sites with electric hook up. Also has a nice pavilion, sand volley ball court, and archery range near the main parking area. Good park overall.
Blue Rock is my personal favorite place to camp in Ohio. Quiet, Spacious camp sites, a great atmosphere, showers and bathrooms are always clean, and the kids love hiking, swimming and meeting new people here.
Went camping over labor day weekend. Peace and quiet very limited cell reception if needed. Only complaint was a fellow camper didn't shut off their generator at night so it was kind of annoying and hard to sleep. Other than that great time. Make sure to call ahead as all spots were taken. Picture is of the lake.
Blue Rock State Park is beautiful in the winter and snow covered. I'm sure in the summer it's a popular destination.
