I can't say anything negative about this ER as a ER vet tech. I recently moved our family's geriatric cat across the country. He had a low blood sugar as he was not eating well due to stress so we came straight here. Their staff were professional and quick to take our baby back. The Dr took a couple of hours to see but this is normal for the ER. We were discharged quickly and the bill was reasonable. Thank you for taking care of our baby!!
The whole team here took excellent care of my cat who was suddenly gravely ill and eventually there was nothing more they could do for him. They worked so hard doing everything humanly possible in an attempt to stabilize him, and provided me with frequent updates on his condition, took the time to answer my questions, and gave evidence-based recommendations on how to move forward while ultimately leaving the decisions to me. They gave me an advance written price estimate for care and ended up well below it. I felt so well supported by the whole team, and like they all genuinely felt the loss with me. I would absolutely come back and recommend them to anyone.
So grateful to Blue Pearl, specifically Dr. Lazzarotto and the rest of the dental team, for fitting in treatment for my baby boy this week. We found him bleeding from the mouth after fracturing two teeth and he was in need of a dental asap. Every clinic I called was booked out until end of July or August for dental consultation but Blue Pearl was able to see us the following day for the consultation AND procedure. Everyone was so supportive and communicative throughout the process and while the price was definitely steep, I was confident that he was getting the best care possible. Thanks to them, we are already on the road to recovery instead of managing pain for the next several weeks. I cannot recommend them enough!
The team at BluePearl was fantastic - we came in with an incontinent dog first thing in the morning, and even though we couldn’t be seen right away, they were able to get us into a room straight away to make our dog more comfortable. Once they could see us, the tech and doctor were both fantastic. Friendly, kind, informative and helpful, and we thought it was very reasonably priced. Should we need to visit an emergency vet again, we’ll definitely come back here!
This is a clinic that allows their vets to practice autonomy, and it's clear that care is not compromised or dictated by management. There are some very scary alternatives out there that will insist on charging double what a place like BluePearl will charge, just to run unnecessary tests, and refuse to begin treatment until they have sold a product. With the current vet shortage, the cost of animal care will continue to rise, but please support clinics like BluePearl, they are so worth it.
My dog Taffy had seizures and was hospitalized at BP Seattle for 2 nights. I sincerely thank all the doctors and nurses who have been so supportive and caring the past days. They took great care of Taffy, and saved Taffy's life. I felt so relieve every time I dropped off Taffy at BP urgent care because I know they're so equipped and knowledgeable, Taffy would be in good hand. Blue Pearl is my first choice for urgent care. The front desk staff are also very nice, good customer service. The only thing I'll forever regret is the decision I made Not to get MRI back in March when Taffy was admitted to BP Kirkland overnight. That was her very first cluster seizures. The vet did mention about MRI and neurology consult. But honestly I wasn't fully informed/educated about how that would change Taffy's treatments. All I was informed is that they could find out if Taffy has brain tumor causing the seizures. Period. nothing further. I've made up my mind I'll not let Taffy go through surgery/chemo because it's too much sufferings, and doesn't really prolong her life that much. So why bother to have MRI if the treatment plan remains the same taking anti-seizure meds. Not till yesterday, Dr McClellan mentioned it could be other reasons such as meningitis causing the seizures, then the treatments would be different. More so, if it's tumor we can add steroid to slow down the growth of the tumor. Hearing all this, without second thought I chose MRI for Taffy despite the cost. It's game-changing. I wish I had more knowledge about all this, and I do strongly believe that Vets carry the responsibility to share such knowledge/information to pet owners so that they could make a better decision for their pets. If it's financial reason, they opt out not to do it but at least they get a full picture of what going to happen to their pets. I will forever carry the guilt that I didn't give Taffy MRI sooner back in March. Now it's almost 5 months later. Knowing what causes her seizure confirmed left frontal lobe brain tumor, maybe she didn't have to end up in urgent care so many more times afterwards; maybe we could have started her on prednisone sooner and slow down her tumor growth thank you Dr. Jenya Katz @ Madison Park Veterinary Hospital first suggested that. I didn't know all the extra meds to manage her symptoms, not just anti-seizure meds. I'll never know how fast the tumor has grown the past 5 months, and how much it has shorten Taffy's life. For now, I'll have to carry this guilt with me till the last day of my life. Taffy is part of my family. She's my forever and only child, my best and most loyal friend. I would do anything for her. I'm so grateful that Dr. DeVilbiss neurologist was in Taffy's case. She updated me on Taffy's progress, and came up a thoughtful treatment plans. Thank you BP Seattle.
My regular veterinarian clinic was closed for Juneteenth and one of my cats was not doing very well at all. I had been to Blue Pearl for an emergency once before, they were open, and i needed help so I drove into town. My ill cat had been to my regular vet several days ago and already had her blood work done, so when the veterinarian at Blue Pearl started listing off the same tests I told her that they'd already been done and that I'd like to leave those off if possible to be "cost effective". In response, DMV, Kathleen V. Wirth, being completely serious, said: "Well you came to the wrong place for that." I was too concerned about getting treatment for my cat to respond to her the way I wanted so I let it slide. She spent the rest of the session talking to me like I was some lower life form, like how dare I tell them not to charge me for tests that I had already paid for at another vet several days prior. DMV Wirth then went on to tell me that there's another emergency veterinary hospital in South Seattle that would be "cost effective", basically telling me to go elsewhere the next time I need help. I advise you to seek emergency care for your companions elsewhere. Apparently all Blue Pearl cares about is turning a profit. Also, she had told me they'd send me home with some food samples that I might try so my cat would eat my cat lost her appetite and had not eaten in two days. Wirth charged me for the same medication twice, one was supposedly a larger dose they administered on site but the cost was nearly double. They also charged an exorbitant amount for fluid. She never did give me the samples.
Pupdate that is resulting in a lower review. My dog was in respiratory distress and the front desk told me it would be an hour before he could be seen due to Covid I pleaded to get him in. He ended up passing away at home. I was on the phone trying to convince the front desk we were urgent and needed to come in now. I will never forgive the lack of empathy or response to my emergency. Unfortunately over the past 3 months I have had a variety of experiences at Seattle Veterinary Specialist. SVS Blue Pearl is the same business 24 hr emergency Veterinarian. My personal experiences have been generally good. My only issue is having a hard time with connecting with Internal medicine regarding follow-up. I.e. modification of treatment medicine- follow-up reports and medications being filled. Also note they are not a Primary vet they are emergency vets all qualified it seemed each vet I spoke with had different opinions on what direction to go with. Regardless - Decisions are yours and go with what you feel is best no matter what. I spoke with 3 different vet's regarding updates and suggested courses of treatment etc.. but in the end I made the decisions I felt were best. SVS Blue Pearl is conveniently located off of I-5. Due note: SVS Blue Pearl is extremely busy. Wait time can be up to 4hrs. Other options are Blue Pearl in South Seattle in Renton or North Seattle or North Seattle Veterinary Specialist.
me and my grandma came to the vet for our dog that had broke his back we got there at 3:00 Pm and they said we would have to wait 30 minutes but then they said they cant check our dog out for another 4 hours due to a emergency surgery and they checked other peoples dog except ours. they came up to me and my grandma and gave us a paper which had other clinics that we could go to because they said they were full. me and my grandma decided to stay and wait it out and a couple hours later it was out turn. they said they would only give our dog a physical and that it would only take 15 minutes then hours go by and we still dont have out dog back. me and my grandma ended up staying there till 1Am to get our dog back. and when it was time to pay they put things we didnt ask for on our check and my grandma ended up paying 600 when it was supposed to be 200
I was referred to Dr.DeVilbiss by one of the DVMs at my work, and I am so thankful. My fur baby was having seizures, was lethargic, ataxic, wouldn’t eat or drink, and was showing signs of severe pain. Dr.DeVilbiss did an MRI and spinal tap on my chihuahua to find she has encephalitis. We started her on medication and she has made a complete turn around. While the past 5 weeks have been anxiety ridden, my little Delilah is doing SO well. Her symptoms have subsided, and while her future is unknown, Dr. DeVilbiss and team have been nothing but supportive, informative, and have been hands down the best I could ask for. From the moment Holly Came to grab Delilah from the parking garage, I knew she was in good hands. Holly and Dr. DeVilbiss make me feel like D isn’t “just” a dog. I feel as though they care about her as if she were theirs. As someone who works in the field, it’s been an eye opening experience being on the other side of things, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience during one of the scariest times. From the bottom of my heart, my self, my partner, our other chihuahuas and kitty are so thankful. Words can not express our gratitude. The first three photos are after treatment, the last three are before.
