Always a great place! Safe, secure, friendly hosts, ample sites. This is our fourth year camping here and we love it!!!! Playground: Nice playground for the kiddos. Restrooms: Clean and well placed throughout the park Dog-friendliness: Dog park on the premises.
I stayed at tent only site. It was right on the lake. Unfortunately you didn’t have the best view a lot of bushes in the way. But they did have a bench close to where you could sit and look at the lake. The site did have a very large pad to accommodate several tents. It did have electricity. That’s a plus for me. Bathrooms are clean the grounds kept very nice. It was quiet and very relaxing. I will return. I’d like to see what it looks like in the fall. I would’ve gave it a five except for not having the best views of the lake if they would only cut the bushes down and leave the trees. I would definitely say five.
Awesome and large camp site for my tent! Back to nature my friends and enjoy life everyday...
This is a nice campground, with a decent amount of space between sites. The bathrooms are clean and have showers. There's fresh water available, dumping for RVs, and the tent sites are right on the lake. Everyone is very friendly, and there are eagles soaring overhead in the morning.
Super clean and organized. Usually people are nice, not all. Although Our neighbor insulted us bc we forgot our hose attached to the shared water; he should have just told us and keep the music loud on untill 11pm, we still love this place. I cannot say 100% international friendly.
Great place. First Federal park we ever stayed that had full hookups. No bath houses, which you don't need with FHU. This is a great park. Well maintained and checking in was smooth. We'll stay here again in the future.
We stayed at Boo Wood Campground for about five days and enjoyed much of their amenities. The campground featured a dog park which provided room for our dogs to run around. There was also multiple playgrounds and even a small amphitheater. There was a large boat ramp with ample parking. We put in our kayaks on the boat ramp and enjoyed a nice paddle on a portion of the Shelbyville Lake. We paid less than $25 a night for full hooks up and we had nearly a lake view. Our biggest issue with this campsite was the extensive bugs, once the sun goes down the bugs get horribly bad. We let our dogs out past 8 p.m. and our camper was covered with swarms of psychodidae sewer flies. Once we quickly got in our camper, we spent the next hour killing the swarms of sewer flies that entered our camper. We learned our lesson and once the sun went down, we did not leave our camper.
Nice little campground with all the amenities! Sites were well kept and so were all of the facilities. We were driving through and it was the perfect place to stop a couple nights!
Nice campground but the bathrooms need to be better cleaned.
One of my now favorite spots for "getting away" for relaxation and fun. This camping spot has large, level sites and great views of the lake. We had to drive 5 min. into Sullivan to buy firewood since they don't offer wood nor ice at the park. Only half the spots are reservable so landing a spot on busy days is a challenge. Some folks show up super early in order to snag a "first-come, first-serve" site. This place is popular for boaters and fishing, but we just enjoyed the hiking and biking...and the dark skies/bright stars.
