Campers be very clear about the cancelation policy here. I had booked 1 nt in Oct. Not peak season and paid a $61 deposit. I had to cancel the reservation 1 week before our scheduled stay. NO REFUND. I am a full time RVer and have never experienced such an outrageous policy. I'll not be booking with Sun Retreats again.
Great campground. We always stay at Hidden Ridge when we are in the area.
Stayed here for almost a month and loved it. Sites are all concrete pads with full hook-ups which makes it very easy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had to extend our stay and they were able to find another spot for us to move our RV too. Beautiful grounds and lots of activities. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
The place is going down hill fast. Seems the seasonal and weekend rates are the only things increasing. The splash pad has been down for going on 3 weeks, the basketball/pickle ball courts are falling apart, the pool is a decent size but not big enough for the amount of people that go there so its always over crowded. They have a bounce pillow for kids that doesn't hold air, little to no activities for kids older than 10. The security guy is over the top and creepy, seen him sitting and staring at 3 young girls that were in the hot tub. I can add more but it would fall on deaf ears. They do not care because there is a waiting list to get into this place so your site will be full in a few days. Prices go up annually, probably will be close to 5500$ next year. Stay away from this place, go find a family campground somewhere, something this place used to be. a majority of the top reviews will be from weekend people, but that will change when they get there and 3/4 of the advertised amenities aren't up to par
I am disturbed that after 5 weeks the bounce pad continues to be in worse condition every week and there seems no solution in sight. After little response from park management who initially told me there was nothing wrong with it I called and wrote Sun Treats corporate office. They ignored the email completely but promised on the phone to get to the bottom of the issue. That was 3 weeks ago. Today I just drove by and there were 8 kids on one side of the pillow and it was almost completely flat on that one side. My fear is, like many things they’ll just close it down completely and say it’s unsafe. Hoping someone has a constructive recommendation on how to get someone to get to work on this or at least get an honest answer from management here or the Corporate office.
This place has become a "joke" over the last few years. Ever since "sun communities" bought it. Managers that have 0 experience running a resort. It had turned into nothing but a glorified Jellystone campground, kid haven. Noone follows the rules, Noone enforces the rules, it's just a free for all. Ranger works during the day and is off at 11pm mischief happens after, pulls double duty as the tractor driver for wagon rides, stops at all the pot lucks, everything but doing his primary job. Facilities are going down hill, corporate would rather spend boo-coo $$$ on pretty new road signs than fix the broken fences, gaps in the road, deflated bounce pillow, concrete broken on sites, poor wi-fi, bad water so hard it looks like rust when you test it. Just sad, definitely not a RV resort. And, forgot the weekend cabin dwellers that come in and act like this place is a mini Amusement park acting like hethethans and idiots. Our last year here, never again here or a sun resort. And, they have more seasonal people in here than ever before, so if your a transient looking to stay over night or for a weekend just passing thru, good luck, and the price is outrageous, all based on availability like hotels, maybe $60 one night, might be $80+ the next, depending on the site, totally ridiculous. If you are driving to upper Michigan on 131 and need a place to stay, keep driving and pass by here, chances are if you do land a site, you will be up top in kid haven and party land, good luck on a good night sleep.
If you have a weekend, come stay here! Rent a cabin or pull up a trailer! Kids love this place and always tons of activities for then
Great campground/RV Resort. Lots of amenities. We stayed on off season so the price was reasonable. Friendly staff. Nice area and plenty to do in the surrounding areas. We had to do laundry and 2 out of the 6 machines were broken. I used their shower and the showers weren't impressive. The grass was long like it hadn't been cut in a while. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Unbelievable experience. After a few recommendations we decided to book our Father's Day weekend here 6 months in advance. I extended the weekend by taking vacation time from work and we had to arrive a bit late on arrival day due to our son's baseball game. Only to wake up the next day and receive a phone call after having taken a walk with my little ones to the park that they needed to "Confirm we had a Class A motorhome because the site we were on is motorhome only and we selected this during our reservation and if we didnt which they clearly knew we would need to leave the park." Apparently I had made a mistake while reserving which was not clearly marked or stated on any of our confirmation emails. We were told they didn't have any room to move us so we must leave the park. Our entire weekend, vacation time, and Father's Day ruined with our family of 6 because of an honest mistake and a poor reservation system not to mention their COMPLETE lack of empathy or care that they were sending us away. The site was very usable, our travel trailer is newer and in great condition and their are several just like it as well as 5th wheels throughout the park even though their words were we are different than others "We are an RV Park". We were also told we would still need to pay for the day since we had been there the previous night. $89 to take my toddlers on a stroller walk and 30minute trip to the park. Not to mention the non-functioning splash pad. A perk I seek out for my children. Their only reason for not allowing us to stay is because if they let us then it wouldn't be fair to others and they would have to let them also. Ummm I am pretty sure any human being with decency and care in that park would've understood and not cared had they known our situation. I highly doubt the fellow campers agreed with your decision to send our family away after our much anticipated weekend. I will never recommend this place run by rude, elitist attitude, and heartless people.
First time camping here and I can’t say enough good things about it! Blueberry pancake breakfast they did this morning was fantastic- well organized, clean, friendly staff and good food. I even saw staff enforcing rules dealing with unsupervised out of control kids at the pool which I appreciate. Facilities are very clean and very well maintained. We checked in after hours and that too was very well organized. Overall excellent!!
