Tennis program designed to assist at risk kids ages 3 to 17 living in and around the city of Boston with life skills through playing tennis with officers of the Boston Police Department, coaches of Sportsmen's Tennis Club, and several volunteers.
When:
Sunday's from 3-5 pm at Mary Ellen McCormick Development (Veterans Park) ending October 20th, 2017.
Fridays, 6-8 pm, summer session concludes August 18th, and Fall session beginning October 10th, 2017.
The Boston Police Tennis Program / Volley Against Violence is a comprehensive program of free tennis for youth and adults of all ages, together with leadership workshops and conflict resolution training for boys and girls ages 3 to 17, held at Sportsmen's Tennis and Enrichment Center and Veteran's Park.
It began with funding from The Boston Foundation's Street Safe Initiative in 2008 and has continued with funding from the Foundation's My Summer In The City Initiative and from Tufts' New England Medical Center's Dorchester Health Initiative.
The Boston Police Tennis Program partners with Sportsmen's to provide volunteer coaches and transportation for the popular program, which also includes free tennis clinic and light refreshments on Friday nights from 6 - 8 PM, beginning October 7th and ending in late June at the Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center.
Cost is free
Ages 3-17 yrs. old, families welcome and invited.
