I love this movie theater in downtown New Haven. I went to a movie on a Thursday night and there weren't that many people in the theater. I hope this place stays open. I will definitely be going back. They have really cool artwork throughout the building!
Stressful parking, but an otherwise perfect experience. When no other theater has the movie I want, Criterion Cinemas has my back. Comfortable seats and friendly workers.
I love coming here and have been going to movies here since 2016. The staff are friendly, the theater is very well maintained, and the concessions are good.

Please, if you can go to North Haven’s cinema, do so! Went to go see Black Panther 2 there coming to this theater was not my choice. The movie’s quality was terrible! If you are going to go see a blockbuster movie, please choose a different theater because this one just ain’t it.
I love this movie theater!! Great location. Parking on the street or right next door in the parking deck. Comfortable seats. Wine for purchase and delicious popcorn. We have seen a couple movies here. On Tuesday's the price of the movie admission is reduced. They also have theme movies on certain days. Example Oscar winning movies they were showing. And black panther premiere.
Being a comic book Marvel/DCovie fan and traveling alot I visit numerous theaters and cinemas and I must say that this establishment was staffed well with a welcoming and fully stocked snack stand with consistently fresh popped corn and a Immaculately and meticulously well kept theater. No exaggerating no sticky floors and or the usual theater shenanigans. Screen theater size and surround sound within made my viewing of Dr.Strange 2 and enjoyable delight. I would HIGHLY recommend watching your next movie at Now Tie Criterion Cinemas.. DEFINITE 5 STARS+
Smaller theater but hey, they serve beer and wine here. Went to see the cult film "The Room" with the wife and had a good time. To the gentleman who seemed as if his soul was being abducted little by little with every snack order placed, this 3 star rating is for you. I kid you not, throughout the ENTIRE experience of walking up to the counter and walking away, this guy did not say one word to us. No "hello and welcome", "what can i get for the both of you", "and your total comes out to..." Instead, I received groans and glares that would have been warranted towards an unruly adolescent who destroyed a display on the way up. The lack of customer service was almost comical as I reflected. The movie you ask? Even funnier!
Can easily use a kiosk or front desk to get tickets, cool area perfect to avoid the summer heat, nice area for eatting from their shop or waiting for your movie time. This place has always had a different feeling than other movie theatres and if I could improve anything at all. It would be to add some claw machines or arcades there is tons of space and could help people pass time while waiting for their film.
