When I moved out to Buffalo, New York to hunt for jobs and an apartment, the Hostel Buffalo Niagara was one of the only affordable options, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Not only is the location fantastic right in the center of downtown Buffalo, but the people were friendly and understanding. There was space to work quietly if you need it as well as ample possibility to get to know people. My transition into living in Buffalo wouldn't have been possible without the Hostel and the people who work here. Thanks again!
Located in Downtown Buffalo, this hostel has a unique vibe. The people running and managing this place are great. The beds are clean and comfy. Maybe the only thing which is a bit off is the one bathroom per floor, which can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours. Hostel is connected well via bus routes to the airport and Niagara falls. Will definitely stay here if I’m in and around Buffalo and will recommend this place. Food & drinks: Located in Downtown, you have plenty of options nearby.
I'm just reviewing it as a performance venue. It has potential and is a good idea. The hostel books great music and performers. The room needs work though. The alignment is awkward for dancing and everytime I've been there audiences seem uncomfortable as to sit sit or stand upHotel highlightsGreat value
Nice people, sparse hours of attended front desk, easy free tram ride from Amtrak downtown Station. Fresh coffee pot made by staff in morning, usual oatmeal and eclectic collection of spices and cookware.Rooms: 4/5
I booked 9 nights with them and cancelled three days in advance and I still was completely unaware of their 14 day in advance cancellation policy. I was ignorant to their rules and procedures and they were still kind enough to issue a partial refund. Really nice people I am very grateful for the empathy they showed me ty very much.Rooms: 5/5
Everyone that includes those staying and the staff look out for one another. Don't go if you expect to be waited upon. The kitchen is available at all times and the laundry seems is constantly running. The rooms are clean and well secured. This Hostel is a true gem in a gem encrusted city. Regards to all who love to travel and to the staff of Hostel Buffalo-Niagara.
I had the pleasure of staying for two weeks. I very much enjoyed my stay. It's a charming eclectic boutique hostel, and the staff are hard working. They do an excellent job of maintaining it and creating a welcoming environment. A bonus is that it's in the heart of downtown Buffalo, within walking distance to theatres, restaurants, cafes, etc and it's not far from Niagara Falls. I rode the bus for $4 dollar round trip to the falls. Well worth it!
Pretty good value for the money. One issue is that there is only toilet and shower stall on one floor, so at full capacity, about 30 people are fighting for one stall. Also, if someone is using the shower, it becomes inconvenient/invasive to use the toilet. The beds are also a bit uncomfortable. I don’t expect $1000 mattresses, but the upper bunk is so low, you can’t sit up when you’re on the lower bunk. There parking instructions, but still receive the parking ticket. As a local business, they should make sure to give the correct information depending on what time of the year the guests are staying, as local laws change. *edited to add, JP was a fantastic host and even came to find me to personally apologize. I have changed my rating to reflect the great customer care received.
Was my first experience at the Hostel, stayed one night for the Buffalo marathon, free parking during the weekend in front of the building. Clean rooms and beds! Very cozy and they have everything you need. Good location close to many theaters.Rooms: 5/5
