The Mission of Boyce Thompson Arboretum is to instill in people an appreciation of plants through the fostering of educational, recreational, research, and conservation opportunities associated with arid-land plants.
Our visitor center offers various exhibits and a gift shop with drinks, bottled water, snacks, books, prints, posters, and seed packets. You can also purchase cactus, other succulents, trees, shrubs, ground covers, and herbs. Scheduled events include Spring and Fall Plant Sale fundraisers, the Fall Color Festival in late November, Australia Day in January, Herb Festival in October, South Africa Day in February and more. Summertime interpretive tours include the popular "Learn Your Lizards" walk lead by guest herpetologists, plus tours seeking butterflies, dragonflies, edible/medicinal desert plants and "plants of the Bible Lands."
