We prepare boys for success in college and beyond.
We provide a world-class college preparatory education to 800 students in grades 6-12. Our young men matriculate into and persist through college at rates 3X to 4X greater than Philadelphia averages.
Boys' Latin of Philadelphia provides a world-class college preparatory education to students across Philadelphia in grades 6-12. As a public charter school, there are no admissions requirements and the school enrolls by randomized lottery. With our small students body and 14:1 student/teacher ratio, we offer an intimate learning community in which each young man is encouraged to be the "architect of his own fortune" by pursuing excellence across a range of endeavors. Our rigorous academic model blends classical education and contemporary pedagogy that prepares students for college matriculation and sets high standards for achievement, character development, and emotional intelligence. Unlike the neighboring schools, our students attend an extended day of classes (8:00am - 5:00pm), receive after-school tutoring, and have Saturday classes twice monthly. In addition to rigorous coursework and a safe and supportive environment, the school has a 1:1 laptop program and more than 30 student activities, including sports (baseball, basketball, crew, fencing, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis), arts (music, drama, visual arts), academically oriented activities (Junior Classics League, Mock Trial, Robotics, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), and dual-enrollment programs with Penn Medicine and Lincoln University.
We prepare boys for success in college and beyond, using as our foundation a classical Latin education, the positive influence of brotherhood, and rich relationships. We are a community that values and cultivates critical thinking, personal responsibility, emotional intelligence, and character development.
