Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site is owned by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, and operated along with the Friends of Brandywine Battlefield. We're located on 50 acres (200,000 m2), in Chadds Ford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It is a portion of the 15 square miles that the Battle of Brandywine was fought September 11, 1777, during the American Revolution. The battle was a major victory for the British & enabled them to capture the city of Philadelphia. Brandywine Battlefield became a Pennsylvania State Park in 1949 and a National Historic Landmark in 1961.
