Store location and geography play a significant role in a store’s product selection, but the biggest factor is the store manager. Brown’s store managers are responsible for purchasing the entire product mix in their store. Since no two managers are the exact same, the product is different in each store.
Can I return a pair of shoes in a different store than the one I bought them in?
The best way to handle this situation is to return the pair of shoes in the store in which you bought them. Each store is individually owned and managed. Returns are handled differently in each store because each manager sets the store’s return policy.
Are all shoes equally sized?
Do not rely on a specific size to fit the same from one shoe to another, or from one brand to another. Shoes will not fit the same. Athletic shoes generally run ½ size smaller than a leather walking shoe. Work boots usually run longer than walking shoes. Also, there are many sets of hands that touch a shoe during the manufacturing process, and this can lead to different fit characteristics. Our suggestion is: Don’t get size conscious, get the shoe that feels the best.
Should all shoes of the same brand fit the same?
It is not uncommon to wear different sizes in the same brand of shoe. Styles of shoes can vary in size.
How do I know if my shoes are the correct size?

Brown’s not only checks the length and width of your feet, but we also pay attention to the depth of your foot. Stop by one of our stores, and they will measure your feet to make certain that you have properly fitting shoes.

This is important to foot health, as different shoes have different “pressure points.” Trading shoes every day helps make certain that your feet don’t become accustom to only one set of these “pressure points.” Your shoes will wear longer if you allow them to dry out between wearings! Also, by allowing your shoes to dry out, you don’t promote the growth of fungus in your shoes, or on your feet.
