One of the best museums I've ever been to. We went here on an afternoon, looking to find something out of the heat it's been a summer here haha and we ended up here. Free parking in a lovely lot and not too busy. The woman at the front desk was gracious and knowledgeable and the museum was a delight! The little screen next to the exhibits weren't on, but that didn't matter. So much info from maybe the 1700's to almost the present, and literally EVERYTHING in between. Fun little quirks, like exhibits that play music when you walk up, and short little videos around. They just opened a new exhibit for the Orphans that used to live in the home and it was incredibly moving and informative as well. The grounds are lovely and there were lots of flowers blooming and bees buzzing about. Shout out to the gift shop as well. I'm usually a browser but we found a lovely book and I bought a necklace as well. Will definitely return!
Wonderful, interesting museum of Texas history. Would highly recommend taking a guided tour, but interactive guides were available for many exhibits for self guided tours.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$11–15
Very nice museum. It is a three-storey building made of wood which has a wide collection of arts. In the first floor we can see some collections such as rifles, and many religious artefacts. In the second floor there is an excellent library; a big room with wide collections of books. There is also some paintings displayed in a special room. There is a room that is called an orphan room to show the history of the building ehich was once an orphanage. In the basement room there are some games and a video shows us the history of galvestone
This museum has many exhibits that are fun for little boys like me. Plenty of old west guns and swords and cowboy artifacts like saddles, lariat, and canteens.
I photographed a beautiful wedding ceremony here in the fall and absolutely loved it! The Conservatory was elegant and romantic, the perfect space for a ceremony. The grounds around the museum are also quite lovely, especially in the afternoon and evening light. I highly recommend this venue!Visited onWeekend
The Bryan Museum is a great place to learn about Texas history! I learned a lot last time I was here. They also do wedding ceremonies here. This is a beautiful and well-maintained place!
My family and I loved this museum! It's packed with history and historical artifacts. There are 3 floors to visit. I recommend taking your time to look at and read everything they have available. We plan to visit again in the future when we have more time to really look at everything. We went with Girl Scouts and did a quick Scavenger Hunt tour. Price for entry: $14.00
You have to really be into Texas to enjoy this place. Glosses over the bad, such as slavery, never mentions the forced removal of indigenous people, and puts cowboys on a pedestal. I was so bored, but I liked the model of the Battle of San Jacinto. The building itself is gorgeous and so are the grounds. Not worth the money for these Northern tourists.
Outstanding! I hate to admit I spent 20-years in Houston before finding this absolute gem of a museum. Originally 'Galveston's Orphans Home', this museum is unrivaled in its content, and quality of content, related to Texas and American history. For instance, in my photos you'll see a display of guns - but in the Bryan Museum they are not random artifacts, these are the guns, possessions, and even playing cards of the very founders of Texas and Houston John Hardin being a perfect example. The staff are beyond knowledgeable, the facility is impeccable, and this is a highly recommended visit when your are in Galveston.
Absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. If you love Texas History or want to know more about Texas, take 2 hours at least to enjoy this treasure. So thankful to have checked this place out. I'll be back!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
