Bryan Park is named in honor of John Fraser Bryan (1885-1918), a native New Yorker who lost his life in World War 1. It officially opened as such in 1933.
The park is located at the intersection of East Fordham Road and East Kingsbridge Road and is managed by the Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID). This park is a beautiful public space which includes ample seatung, a water fountain, an open plaza space & a well known flag pole. A variety of different events are held in this venue throughout the year including an annual film series, live music & concerts, a food truck extravaganza & many other promotional & holiday events. The biggest holiday event in the Bronx, "Sparkling the Heart of Fordham", now entering its 12th year, takes place in Bryan Park every December & includes a special tree lighting with decorations, live music & performances, raffles, prizes, giveaways & Santa Claus giving out free presents to kids. In 2015, over 2,500 people attended this event & over 800 free gifts were distributed to children.
