I’m impressed with the level of actual gymnastics they teach such young kids. Even in the 4-5 year old class the kids learn cart wheels and prep for back hand springs, hand stands, etc. I can see why Olympians like Gabby Douglas chose Buckeye Gymnastics as her team. Best of all is simply seeing these kids have fun while learning real gymnastics!
So far it has been a great experience. We have recently left another facility that we spent way too much time and money on with little to no results. Really looking forward to seeing my child learn new techniques!
We recently switched to Buckeye from another local competitor. Our primary reason was due to availability, but it's proven to be a wise & great decision so far. Our daughter, who's just shy of 5, has already progressed so much since being at Buckeye. They speak to them like big kids, use proper gymnastics terms with them, & the discipline they instill is helpful in all aspects though it's not harsh by any means. They took them to the big gym at the end of one class & let them use the rings over the foam pit. My daughter was terrified due to the height, so they modified it initially to make her more comfortable. Once she was, she moved on to doing it the "right" way - their patience with her really paid off! One thing I really like about them, versus where we used to be, the age ranges for classes are much better. Instead of a 4-5y/o class, its 4.5-5, 5-5.5, so on. I think this keeps skill levels much closer & more appropriate & it also allows for better class availability. Happy to be here!
Thank you so much to all the staff at Buckeye Gymnastics. I recently started taking my daughter here and she absolutely loves it. I definitely recommend this to anybody that is interested in this sport. The staff are wonderful. I seriously cannot thank you enough and I am so grateful that I found Buckeye Gymnastics.
I've taken my two children to Buckeye Gymnastics off and on for over a year. We loved everything about it and could see their confidence explode as they continued on in the classes. Now, a while after taking classes, they still can recite the 'popcorn' trampoline rhyme that was in every class. : My only complaint is that the teacher turnover seemed to be high, but comparable to other gymnastics locations that we had been to in the area.
Trainers/coaches are great. Mr. Matt in particular is a amazing. The facilities at the Powell location are nice with one building dedicated to gymnastics and another building dedicated to cheerleading. There is one person that answers the phone that is seems rude but I am not entirely sure this is intentional and may just be my perception or their personality. The Buckeye Gymnastics team is taking the current Covid situation seriously and a mask is required for all staff and spectators/parentsnot for kids participating. Additionally social distancing is practiced both on the gym floor and for spectator seating. Overall I would recommend this place.
Beware of taking your kids to open gym. I took my 6 nieces on Friday & 2 of them take classes at Buckeye and therefor have a "membership". Before I took them I called ahead to make sure it was ok that their sisters come who don't take classes and they said absolutely . 3 days later I get a call that they are going to charge $50 to my credit card because I didn't have a membership... I not only called before I brought them to verify the membership, but I verified it when I got to the gym and was checking in. Even if my nieces didn't have a membership on file how were they going to let us participate and then try to collect the $50 after the fact and after I already paid $10 a kid. There are much cheaper options for open gym in the area that don't make you have a membership. Ended up canceling my credit card because apparently they have no problem charging it.
Buckeye has a phenomenal gymnastics program. They focus on the quality of gymnastics taught, and the coaches are always so insightful. They relate well to the kids while having fun and making corrections. Love it!
