The care service at this hospital is unreal. An entire team will literally ignore your existence and then call security on you after the check in guard gives you the wrong directions to where your appointment is at. Such a caring environment. Not !.
Horrible Horrible Hospital, my mother is a nurse there and is being forced to stay through Christmas. She was only originally supposed to work the 23rd as a 12 hour shift. She has now been working well over 24 hours and still is being forced to work until an unknown time on Christmas day. As a hospital they should know the consequences of working this long and the tolls it takes on a body. There is no way that this hospital is operating legally at this point. She is tired and would like to come home to her children and see them for Christmas. I have also been a patient there before and their doctors don’t seem to know what they’re doing. They recommended me to a specialist who has been retired for a few years. You would think this hospital would do better. And don’t get me started on the selfishness of their nurses union. I would give them zero stars if it was possible.
The service we received at ICU was great. Nurses are very nice and patient. Rooms in floors are very clean and comfortable. Sometimes, it took a while for nurses to reach you when you call them because of many patients and few nurses available on a floor. But still nurses behave nice and caring.
I've only had good experiences here. I have taken my patient here many times. Krissa on floor 14 is a great nurse. She was kind, did more then what most nurses do on a shift and on top of that she is pregnant . Another lady Pat who took her blood pressure etc was great also. I'm really surprised at all the bad reviews. Everyone needs to understand theirs a lack of Nurses, Aides and hospital staff in general
Do not come here! I checked into the ER on 1/2/23 at @1 pm. My symptoms were increased dizziness, blazing headache, and chest pain. I had an EKG, lab work and a chest x-ray. They also ordered an MRI of the brain. Ten hours later, I was notified by the ER doctor that someone forgot to give me a questionnaire before I had the MRI! Dr examined me10 hours later!! It's 1/3/22. I'm still waiting! If I have had an acute stroke, it's way too late to treat it now. I finally left at 3:30 am. I saw the neurologist, who assured me everything was ok! I made sure to acquire a disc of my MRI and CT scan. I left without the Er Dr officially discharging me. I figured a 14-hour wait was all I could bear! I removed my own Iv tube at home. The CT nurse was very nice and charged my phone while I waited for the MRI there is a charging station in the ER where you place your phone in, and it gives you a code to remove it when it's done charging. I was surprised to find out that all orders are done while you wait in waiting room. The nurse does not come out to check on you. There is an MA who checks your vitals every 4 hours. I had to call out a nurse for a patient who was having seizure activity in the waiting room and was throwing up! Several people walked out after many hours of waiting. Sad, being a physician assistant myself, I found the care to be substandard.
Buffalo General appears to be a hit or miss situation. One of my family members has been there for a month. He has reported rough treatment by some of the medical aides. There are students working with patients that DO NOT IDENTIFY themselves as students and have very cavalier attitudes. The nurses overall are very very good. In the ICUs, the treatment is excellent except for that slow rolling big guy who is rough and lazy and expects the patient to do some of his work! My suggestion is that family members visit and visit often. Ask questions and tell them that you expect your loved one to be treated with respect and care when needed. My loved one has sat in his own waste all night at times when the nurse/aide does not want to clean him. Hospitals are not what they used to be. You have to be vocal and demanding and do not leave your loved one unchecked. Visit EVERYDAY if possible. The doctors who have treated my loved one are excellent, but you have to pin them down. Insist that they give you the information you need to help your loved one -- DO IT THROUGH EMAIL and texts if possible so that you have documentation. You can use "MY CHART" patient portal to check the lab reports and to message the individual doctors. You are not going to get the treatment you should unless you follow these procedures. Document Everything.
If I could give it less I would. The nurses are wonderful. The food is terrible and they don't give you much. What says they are giving you is not what you get. This hospital is the worst hospital for any patient with any type of mental health issues. When trying to explain I need something because of being away from my service dog I was yelled at by a PA I should be grateful for a warm place and bed. She Proceeded out of the room telling staff how ridiculous I am. This hospital has absolutely no knowledge of mental health at all.
When I called the Hospital the first operator was very rude, I called back and ask how can I speak to the surgery department and was told that you not allowed to speak to anyone for an update on the status of my cousin, all though I was getting text messages with update on where he was but they are very vague and as a family member you should be able to speak to the unit nurse for surgery but the text message is the only information you receive which is not reassuring at all, no status if any complications have been encountered or if everything went well. Just a horrible way to keep you informed. I have had many family members in other hospitals and communications have been good however Buffalo General Hospital has a very bad communication system, and the main operators need training on customer service. I’m going to advise my cousin to never go there again. Giving them one star is being generous they should not get any stars at all. BAD BAD BAD HOSPITAL!!!
You have all these people working in this giant hospital and yet you don't have any secretary second answer the phone are you out of your mind where is the customer service you make millions of dollars off of your patience and you can have one secretary doing their job for each department Whenever you call here you gotta leave a message because nobody answers the phones Not to mention the fact that you make millions of dollars can you can't validate parking. Almost every single hospital that's half the size of your hospitvalidates parking. This is poor patient customer service
Do not go here unless you want to DIE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THERE ER OR PATIENTS IF YOU HAVE LIFE THREATENING PROBLEMS DO NOT COME HERE ! Don’t go here terrible hospital they need a training on how to run a er and compassion for the people they serve I see people with severe illness sit while nurses laugh and talk while patients wait for hours I was my sonogram tech was rude because she says she has to get out her bed to complete the sonogram because she is on call …. Like I’m supposed to know it was terrible ignorance and they need to try to do better it’s sad all these reviews and nothing gets fixed I never even got see. Had to go to another hospital! Just to be seen
