Stayed here for a few months because choices are slim and price was decent. Had my pet there for 4 days and he charged me for the whole month after I had discussed it with him and he said he would waive the pet fees. Manager picks and chooses who he wants to enforce the rules on. All spaces are dirt spots and not a dollar has been invested in years. Good monthly rate if you don’t plan on spending any time outside of your rig while you’re there.
Oh my I can’t say enough bad things about this place, we stayed there a few weeks back with a group of travelers, to say that the place is run down is a understatement! It’s literally a joke. Staff is not welcoming and rude, the pool isn’t open because it’s not cost effective “we were told” well maybe if you updated the place people would actually want to stay there. the bathrooms were in poor condition and the toilets barely functioned. The owner would not allow us to ride our STREET LEGAL 50cc Moped on his property. He told us if we didn’t like it then we could leave. My wife didn’t sleep well because she didn’t feel safe in our own camper. I wouldn’t have my worst enemy stay here. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!
You could find a worse place if you looked. But you'd have to look pretty hard. We ended up east of Denver, on I-76, dead tired and and needing a place for the night. But we'd been boon-docking and needed a place where we could dump our tanks, too. There really isn't much out that way, so we ended up at the Buffalo Hills RV Park. Most of the sites that were filled were being used by long-term, permanent/semi-permanent residents. None appeared to be sketchy, but their rigs and sites had seen better days. The place looks to have once been a Yogi Bear/Jellystone park that fell long and fell hard. The place needs some big-time TLC. It's pretty wind-swept and a lot of debris and trash has blown in or been tossed by the residents? For amenities, there is a playground and.. .no, that's it unless you coun't the fenced-off, abandoned pool or the equally abandoned horseshoe pit. On the upside, the manager owner?, Jim, seemed like a nice enough guy. He came out of the former? check-in building before we even came to a stop as we drove in and showed us to our site. We'd pre-paid, so there was no paperwork to fill out. And the electric, water, and sanitary all worked, so there's that. Overall, though, it's a pretty run-down, depressing place to stay. Like I said, you probably could do worse. Just hope you never have to.
Horrid!! Not maintained. Pool closed. Most fixtures in bathroom broke or missing. Stools rock. Camp sites are tall weeds. Never ho here
Jim, the manager is a talkative and friendly guy. This park looks like it was a very nice place years ago. It's clear the current owner has decided to spend the absolute minimum on maintenance. My reply to the owner's response: Thanks for the info. That sounds expensive and time consuming! I was put off by the condition of your gravel roads, the litter throughout the campground and the foot high weeds around the water spigot. My sewer hook up was underneath my neighbors picnic table, so I saved my tank dumps for tonight's campground. Thinking about your response to my review, as well as your response to others who've complained about the empty pool, a pattern emerges: You like to make excuses for the poor condition of your campground. If it was truly your desire, the place would look a lot better than it does. I'm guessing/hoping you haven't owned this place very long. Best of luck to you.
Not much. You park on loose dirt and plug in. No extras. About all are residents, cars/trucks driving in and out quite late. No propane available. It's a place to get off the road if you're tired. Website stated $35 but charged $40 plus tax. Meh
Nice place to stay. Laundry facilities are some of the cleanest I’ve ever used; no dog hair in machines and both washers and dryers work great; only $2.00 each. Bathrooms are maintained and smell fresh with bleach. The park is quiet and peaceful with long-term and temporary campers and tent sites available. The on-site managerJeff is easy to talk to and very helpful.
Older park with some trees and average sized sites just off of I-76. Most people are here working for a few months in the area, the rest are overnight stops. From here you can arrive anywhere in central Colorado at a reasonable hour. The bathhouse is dated and stained/dirty by age. The pool was empty and there is no playground for the kids.
The manager of the campground was nice, but the campground itself is very rundown and is not being maintained. It has a swimming pool, but the pool has no water in it. The sites are jammed right on top of each other. Of the 3 showers in the men’s shower room, only one is fully functional. One has no knobs to turn the water on and off. In another the hot water won’t come out. Most of the sites are occupied by seasonal people that appear to be in the area working with some of the RVs being pretty run down.
FROM 2021... I once again just needed a couple nights to camp before my longer term state park reservations elsewhere in Colorado. So, I stopped at Buffalo Hill RV Park once again. The park has made some nice upgrades. I was on CS #21, which appeared to have a brand new 50amp service. I was told mine was only 1 of many sites to have new electrical. After Jay left over a year ago, an equally nice guy, Jim, took over Jay's position as park manager. Jim had been the maintenance guy. I am disabled and needed something tightened under my sink before I left the next day. But, it was too much for my shoulders to handle. Jim came down quickly and helped me out. I offered him a twenty but he refused it. He believes in all of us helping each other. Cool guy! If similar circumstances arise in the future regarding my needs for camping, I will gladly stay at Buffalo Hills again. FROM 2019... I just needed a place to camp for a few day while in Sterling, CO whereas most people seem to be here for much longer timeframes. Everyone is friendly. Jay, the guy who runs the place, has been nice and very accommodating. The building with the toilets, showers, and laundry was kept good and warm despite how cold it was outside. The men's restroom was very clean. While I usually camp at state and national parks, not RV parks, I had no complaints whatsoever about Buffalo Hills.
