Burch Formal Shop

EDIT/RESPONSE: I have spent some time thinking about Mr. Burch’s response and a week later I feel confident about my post. When my son sent me a photo of the suit he left the store with I was stunned at how large the jacket was on him. I called the store immediately the next morning and asked to speak with the manager. Knowing now that Danny Burch is the owner makes the situation worse. Mr. Burch never once listened to me when I explained how badly the jacket fit. He was so busy telling me that they had a ZERO return policy and that my son “needed to learn to make adult decisions”. HIS EXACT WORDS. He did not once try to remedy the situation. He did not once offer for my son to stop by for him to personally see what he could do to help us out. My son was invited to a formal with only a few days notice. He asked if the suit was returnable only because he wasn’t sure of the fit and if he was making the right decision. He was running between classes and was pressed for time. He and I spoke that evening when we both had time to look at it. The man who fit him told my son it was his first suit sale. Mr. Burch, my son did make an adult decision by walking into your shop and expecting that he walk away with a suit fit by professionals. He did have it altered at the shop your employee referred him to and I will be happy to share the receipt since you doubt my claim. A $200 suit from your shop cost me $150 to have altered. $200 total, including a $50 rush fee that I would have paid regardless. So my comment is not incorrect that the cost to alter was as much as the suit. For you to suggest that I’m lying is a further insult to our experience. Thank goodness customers have a forum to share their experiences that you can’t delete. I’m not doing this because I “didn’t get my way”. I’m sharing this to let others learn from my poor experience. If you had tried to make it right I would have gladly shared my positive experience but that wasn’t the case. My son purchased a suit last night and when he got home and showed me, it was not fitted well. I called the store this morning and they refused to take it back even though the tags were attached and he had it for less than 12 hours. I spoke with the store manager, Danny, and he was inflexible, rude, and condescending. I would expect that a store dedicated to men's formal wear would know how to fit a young man in a suit. I just had to spend as much to have it altered as I did to purchase the entire suit. There is no mention of a "no refund" policy on the receipt. The manager insists my son was told and my son has a different recollection of the situation. His word against theirs at this point. Everywhere we have shopped in Tuscaloosa has been great up until this point. Take your business elsewhere.

I was worried about them not having shoes that fit my son.. size 15 men's No worries!!! Very professional, friendly, and super fast service... Very affordable...

I was very dissatisfied with the service we received. Picked up my son’s tux for prom and the jacket was too short in the arms. Called to let them know and the lady who helped me was not very customer service oriented. He has worn tux’s before and we knew it was too short but she insisted I tell her exactly where the sleeve ended. Had to go back and return it and they had it ready the next day. Then after putting on the pants, they were too short. The person doing the measurements needs to be better on point. This is an outfit that is worn one night for a price that’s not cheap. Will not recommend this place or use it in future events.

We have used Burch & Hatfield for years…for weddings, proms, formals, etc. The service has been great. Danny is very professional and always knows the current trends in formalwear.

Fast and friendly seduce. This is where I have rented tuxes each time I need one while in college at Alabama. Quality isn't amazing but it's just for college parties so it's pretty good stuff and it's really all you need!

The tux I ordered in mountain brook and was ready when I arrived in Tuscaloosa for my event that day.
