Burke County is located in East Central Georgia on the South Carolina border. It was created in 1777. The 2010 population was recorded at 23,316. The County has an area of 835 square miles.
Burke County is one of the original counties in Georgia. We are home to Plant Vogtle, a nuclear powered electricity generation facility. We are leading the Nation in a Nuclear Renaissance by building the first two new reactors constructed in the US in over 30 years.
