Visited Busse Lake for Fishing. We went about 6 in the evening and were fishing there for almost 2 hours and we had fun. The sunset was awesome and Its a nice place to spend the evening peacefully.
Great peaceful day to kayak and get away from every day routines. Saw lots of wildlife and a lot of fish hiding in the weeds
very, very nice large lake. Kayaks, row boats and even frequent sail boats. plenty of room for all. water throughout is mostly shallow, which makes this a perfect places for such small to medium aboved water vessals. Yes, they even have a bait shop.. Plenty of parking. 10 out of 10 stars for this place,
Infested and bare. Trees are cut and replaced with grass that is burnt. 100's of people throwing parties. Every possible spot to fish is blocked with tents and parties. This place once was great but now it's just crowded and dirty, like everything else in cook county.
Nice picnicking areas and good for boating and fishing.....BUT experience was ruined by getting a ticket leaving the place because I was following directions from Google Maps which directed me to turn left at Higgins Road. Missed the smaller than typical signs that indicated No Left Turn on weekends and holidays. I cannot figure out how to report this to Google Maps, but the mistake cost me $120. To leave the lake on these days you need to take a right and drive a mile to the next LEGAL UTURN.
I love kayaking Busse Lake! Easy lauch ramp. Connects to the beginning of Salt Creek. Lots of wild life. I've seen beavers, and lots of turtles. Lots of open picnic spots too. Ample parking
Good place to fish, too many kayakers who dont have proper etiquette fishing, they also do not need to use the boat ramp to launch on busy days. No reason to. They can launch from any grass area. Today I had to wait to launch my boat because 4 people were launching there kayaks at the launch. Lol. Once you do get out the kayakers don’t care where you are fishing they will row or troll right by where your line is, or they will toss there lure near yours. I will not be coming back on busy days. Too many people with no etiquette.
Very relaxed place to stay
Never opened on time. Tried to fish here this morning but 45 mins after sunrise on a Saturday the gates were still closed. Wish they would just open all the gates on time.
