Thank you Butler Hospital for both times I received care at your hospital. While the facilities do need improving and there's not much that can be done about that unfortunately, your staff and the quality of care, commitment, and safety is second to none. The staff, doctors, and patients at Butler have helped me get through some of the hardest times in my life even when I didn't realize it at first. I know not everyone shares the same experiences as me, both times were very tough, but my experience still helped me. I hope that whoever goes to Butler will experience the great care that I got even if they don't realize it right away! The food was surprisingly good too by the way. Thank you to all the great staff, doctors, workers, and patients of course too at Butler for helping better my life! Well wishes to everyone reading this review. Things can get better!
So…i missed an appointment with my normal doctor and she wouldn’t give me my medicine that I had been taking for 20 years, until I saw her the next day. The medicine kept me happier, sane, and more fit for society. I went to the ER at Butler to get one day of medicine to hold me over until the next day. It was a simple mood stabilizer and he denied me. Did he enjoy making me suffer for another 24 hours? I hope you take a look at his lack of compassion and move onto a better doctor.
Poor at least. The doctor on duty told my partner he could go home. They had my number wrong, so because they couldn’t get ahold of me they change plans and he had to stay for a week. They refuse to tell us the medication they gave him. I caught them in lies about keeping him there for treatment, like not having room in one sentence and do in the other. Staff was rude. Doctor on duty should have not told my partner he can go home, then an half and hour later he is staying for 24 hours, then myself there for a week. Doctor on duty refuse to give on referrals unless he stayed in their care.
I have been here several times. I went through their ECT program once. Unfortunately all it did was make my short term memory worse. In-patient most of time as I was into suicidal attempts and self harm. I was sent there by ambulance from Miriam Hospital. I got off the stretcher at the door and walked through the metal detector to a large lobby with comfortable soft couches and small private interview rooms off the main lobby. They pass a metal detector wand in the room but at no time have I ever been strip searched. A person came up to me while sitting in the lobby with only a Johnny top and Johnny pants. She led me to one of the rooms finally after waiting the typical one hour or so in the lobby. They had ginger ale and cookies to take without permission. There is usually approximately 5 to 10 other people in the lobby. They interviewed all the people in the lobby in these rooms. My interview indicated that I needed inpatient treatment and it was recommended, never forced to accept the recommendations. I was not a court ordered patient so I could leave anytime as I volunteered to be admitted. Eventually they assist you to one of the 4 floors they chooses for you based on the information gathered from the interview. Mine was called the Delmonico floor. Top floor. Witch was geared towards my adult issues. 2 to a room with a shower. Beds were square wood boxed mattress’s and were low to the floor and were screwed to the floor so you couldn’t pick them up. It’s a huge living room with 2 big screen TV’s on each end. The whole place was not a square space. Nurses station in the middle with several other people like psychiatric social workers roaming around from one room to another checking on patients every 5 minutes it seemed like. They didn’t come in but shone a flashlight through the halfway closed door. The days were filled with certain coping skills “classes”. All the snacks and drinks and coffee when available were free for the taking. Three pretty good meals with alternative options were brought up from the cafeteria fresh daily. One room was padded and was hardly never used except by patients who wanted quiet time. One room was for your daily meeting with your assigned psychiatrist and nurse to discuss how you were doing, feeling, etc and med changes if needed were ordered then by the psychiatrist. This was a typical day. They didn’t force you to get out of bed but they urged you to attend the group meetings if you wanted to learn skills that may be helpful in your treatment. I mostly stayed in my room the first week but I started getting bored so I came out every day and evening. The only thing I didn’t like was that you had to wash and dry your own clothes. A formidable task if there were many bags of clothes in line outside the tiny laundry room a dryer/washer combination machine the room was about the size of a closet. It took 3 weeks to stabilize me. Then they wanted me to attend the partial hospital where you go home every night and came back the next day. I didn’t last long because I hated CBT and small group talking sessions. Then eventually I was discharged my decision and continued with my psychiatrist out in the community. That’s a basic experience I went through 3 times during my bad months. I’m on medication that doesn’t work for me and have a social worker anytime just called when I had to. But she visited and took me out weekly for my iced coffee or trips to the store. I’m looking for a new psychiatrist more suited to my needs. I enjoyed being in Butlers as it was like a peaceful oasis. Life goes on.
I am in need of a supervised alcohol detox.I just was reading all these reviews and I have to say much disappointed, where are the 4 and 5 stars? I admit some people are not positioned correctly in society, but I have encountered some of the most beautiful in healthcare...I know not everyone can do that 50 hrs a week and smile 24/7 could you?
been here twice, both visits were really helpful and staff are the best. it’s what u make of it when u go, if you expect to have a horrible time, you’re gonna have a horrible time. but once you accept treatment, it isn’t that bad. i really recommend to go here as it is very helpful
This place has ruined lives with there human experimentation! Even on children-it’s despicable! The doctors here literally cannot tell for sure if the “patient” or more accurate test subject is even chemically imbalanced, so they assume and ruin lives and don’t take responsibility. Half there “medicines” in reality poisons are not even tested. They don’t know what will come of it. These words are reflected from a doctor who was in the mental health care profession for 30 years. Even a medical professional had to say it. Please people do your homework.
Brought my ex here severely intoxicated and suicidal and they said he'd be released once sober. Worst hospital I've ever encountered. They don't help ANYONE. They doctors don't deserve their degree and they're inconsiderate for the people who need it most. Don't bring anyone you care for there unless you want them to get worse.
I have been treated there for substance abuse a couple of times, and I don't have any complaints at all from their staff. They are very attentive to you,to what you need. The staff always has been very nice and sympathetic. I don't have any complaints, nothing wrong. The only reason I gave 4 , is only because the company that prepared the foodor bring the food in has no talent cooking.!! Lol The food doesn't have any flavor, blend,is bad,lol.. that's the only complaint I have.!! Other than that,I really LOVE IT there!!!
Everything was pleasant for the most part. It can get pretty confusing if you’re not good at remembering things hahaha but the people who are there patients look out for each other and try to lift each other up, that’s kinda beautiful I met a lot of amazing people, who will probably check-up on me for the rest of my life now hahaha not bad for only staying 2-3 days/nights As far as the staff goes; they’re very professional and straight forward. They’re not afraid to be stern and strict when they need to be which they do, trust me lol but if you treat them with respect like you should they will treat you like a king or queen . Shout out to DavideI love your hair btw bro , Brian, Andrew, Nicole, and everyone else that helped me! You guys deserve the world because you’re helping save the people in it.
