Cafe 54 serves up fresh, imaginative lunch fare, simultaneously providing employment training for adults in mental health recovery in the heart of downtown Tucson.
Mission
-To assist individuals recovering from mental health illnesses become independent, taxpaying citizens
-To provide the restaurant community with a pool of reliable employees who have had quality training and firsthand experience working in a real restaurant setting
-To provide trainees with the tools they need to recognize their inherent talents and skills
-To reduce and ultimately eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illnesses by shifting the focus from disabilities to abilities
"Located in downtown Tucson, Café 54 is a non-profit restaurant and job training program for low-income adults in mental health recovery who are striving to obtain competitive employment and reclaim their independence. Café 54 trainees learn hands-on restaurant skills and work with a job developer on resumes, interviewing, and job searching, and are prepared for employment when they finish the Café 54 program. Café 54 offers full-service catering, in addition to daily lunch fare that changes with the seasons."
