Best spot for Mexican food in the neighborhood. We had 2 meals and 4 cocktails. Bill came to $100 after tax. I highly recommend the Burro bowl. It’s very filling and has a mix of everything. They have a large patio that is well spaced out so you can easy park a stroller or large breed dog and not feel like you’re taking up the aisle. Our server Magdalena was super nice, attentive, and gave good recommendations when we didn’t know what to order.
We’ve been meaning to try this restaurant and finally did for a Sunday evening dinner and wow what a delightful dinner. The restaurant staff are so friendly and the food was excellent and fresh. The salsa verde was so fresh and tasty and the enchiladas were perfection. Thank you. We will be back!Food: 5/5
We were in town to see Teedra Moses. One of my girls that's born & raised in Chicago took us here for lunch - Wendy. The service was amazing. The food was authentic, delicious and fulllll of flavor. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! I definitely recommend coming here! I can't wait to go back on my next visit! Sooooo gooood!!! Also, right next door you can get freshly fried churros that melt in your mouth and so many options of toppings and dips!
My first time eating here: Food and drinks arrived quickly, however, our server never once returned to check on us or refill our drinks. We sat for an HOUR with empty drinks and empty water glasses. It took awhile to flag down a different server - who appeared to be having a disagreement with the bartender - just to get a to-go box and our check. As a former server and bartender myself, I know it is unacceptable for water glasses and beverages to sit empty at a table. This is service 101. We would have ordered another round of drinks, spent more money at this establishment, and left more happy and hydrated if the service had been better. Unfortunately I can't recommend this establishment.
I first tried El Tapatio several years ago at the Glenview, IL location. I had a great experience there. Last night, I went to their location in the city on Ashland Ave. I recommend this place if you are looking for a nice, reasonably-priced Mexican restaurant in the city with great food and service. I will definitely return.
Came here with friends, had yummy vegan burrito bowl, horchata and margarita. Great prices and service!
I’ve been going here for years. This was the last time Food went downhill, and it’s extremely overpriced. They don’t tell you anywhere that they will charge you a transaction fee for using a credit card but it’s on the bill even if you use cash. That’s obnoxious. Part of doing business is fees, and you deduct them on your business taxes. If you want to continue to charge fees that I’m not eating, then tell ppl on your front door you charge transaction fees! Or put it at the top of the menu. Overpriced food, fees, and no thanks. I won’t ever be returning. Save your money.
Easiest 5/5 stars I've ever given! I really like the space and the patio. The food... amazing. If someone knows how to make beans like that, please let me know . No other beans will ever compare. Rice was perfect, good salsa, great micheladas and the churro place right next door makes them fresh per order. Definitely worth visiting!

If you have ever been to a Mexican restaurant then this place will take the new spot in your favorite list. They give you free unlimited chips and salsa which tastes so amazing. Definitely the best salsa I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The perfect texture and perfect spice level that is just spectacular. I ordered and breakfast burrito and it was exactly what I wanted and more. It was only 10 bucks and it was HUGE! With potatoes too! I could only eat half so now I have left overs too. Also, we are outside in their amazing patio space that was very spacious. The only negative I could say was they gave my girlfriend cilatro when she didn’t order it on her taco but the waitress literally came out right after and noticed the mistake and gave us a whole new taco free. Just honestly very professional place and super fun atmosphere. I love it
