The fishing pond was quite disappointing. You really can’t fish. The vegetation growth is too much around the bank and you’re not allowed to enter the lake. Nearby there is another lake part of a park and there are signs warning about toxic algae. If it’s in that lake, it’s in the Caldwell one so it’s best you don’t come in contact with the water anyway. We wouldn’t have known that if we didn’t go to that park. The River access they show on their site map is not true. There are a bunch logs and brush so you can’t actually reach the river. The green belt trail was decent to ride our bikes on for a bit of outdoor activity. The office person was nice. The laundry room was as expected. It was a fine place to stay since we needed hookups for a couple days, just highly disappointed with the lake.
My wife and I had a great 3 day weekend camping by the lake. Hasn't gotten a chance to take advantage of the fishing although there's a nice walking path we enjoyed. We recommend this place!Rooms: 5/5
My family and I came out here to Idaho for work and decided to camp here twice so that we could use our free time to enjoy a tiny bit of nature. The bathrooms would be clean but they are always filled with mosquitos. You can only pay for two camping days in advance. The office is never open when it's supposed to be and their payment system is very outdated. They don't have an outdoor card reader, so they expect you to leave your information there for anyone to access. On our 1st stay, we informed the owner, Joanne, that we were there to work and that we would have to handle payments over the phone, considering that we wouldn't be there when they finally decided to show up to the office. We also didn't feel comfortable leaving our info there. After paying, they let us know that we wouldn't be able to get an email of the receipt but we could pick up the paper receipts when they were open during our work hours. They said that it would be fine that we payed through the phone but yesterday, almost 3 weeks later for our 2nd stay, I was met with screaming in my ear. Joanne and her associate was anything but professional. She threatened to remove our tent for "theft of services" after calling the wrong number twice and proceeded to yell over me while I was explaining the mistake. We had previously requested that they call my number instead because the other number would be out of commission while we worked. We've done our best to be polite to the employees and the people around us but we feel entirely disrespected by management. They allow the RV tenants to empty their dogs in the camping section with no warnings or fines when doggy areas are clearly labeled. We sent an email days ago requesting that they were asked not to do so and we were ignored. We stopped over at a park and have been providing these dog owners with doggy bags. Not to mention all the stray cats wandering around, rubbing what I fear is flea infested fur onto our tent. On top of it all, we've spent over 400$ this last stay and sadly, we haven't truly been able to enjoy ourselves because we're expected to move our big tent every 2 days, so any free time we have is spent doing so. Management has been inconsistent, unkind, and seemingly absentminded. The maintenance workers on the other hand were very friendly, attentive, and increasingly apologetic as our trip continued, and for that, we are grateful. Overall, the free fishing isn't worth being treated like we're less than others when we don't even have time to enjoy it. Pretty sad when someone has to put this much time into detailing just how worthless this place is. Seriously, just look at the responses this entitled waste of space puts out Definitely "cares" about the guests. In short, don't waste your families time or money.
It was a good overnight spot in an absolutely gorgeous location right off of the highway. The owner was very nice and helpful. We were disappointed that we were put in a spot with no sewer hook-up. It wasn't discussed when I made the reservation and wrongly assumed that we had one. The park was about empty when here, so I think full hook-up spots were available, and could probably have switched, but by the time we realized it, we didn't wish to move. No big deal. Laundry and showers were available, though we didn't use them and fast wifi Starlink, I think, as we saw dishy on the outside of the store, which we did use. We were happy to not have to set up our own Starlink dish since we were here just one night. The store was a huge bonus. We were surprised to find a lovely chilled, dry rose wine from CA for a reasonable price and enjoyed it immensely. They have all kinds of gift items, including jewelry available for sale. Nice stuff. Also, food such as you would expect to find at any gas station affiliated place: hotdogs, pizza, snacks. We were hoping for more in the way of food offerings, but it didn't matter, as we had our own. They had an excellent candy store, with homemade chocolates, fudge, old fashioned candies and ice cream. How delightful! Lattes too!! This is a pleasant location for an overnight stay. It was clean and well- maintained. We wouldn't want to hang outside with all of the mosquitos, but we didn't need to. I would absolutely stay here again if were were on our way through.
Great location with exceptional people working here. Access from I-84 couldn't be better, just take the exit with the year round Black Cat fireworks stand. Its right before Caldwell if traveling eastbound towards Boise. I arrived late and the gentleman opened back up and helped me get my trailer tucked in for the night. Great evening. Bathroom could use a update, but the water was hot and it was clean. $46.00 per night price tag seems standard.
It was nice and clean. Staff nice and helpful. Propane on site to buy. Never used shower but the park clean and maintained in general. We put up a small dog yard on the gravel next to our RV so we didn't hurt the grass. We'd stay there again.
Spent a couple months there in my travel trailor w/my companion. Nice, quiet and relaxing. The hosts were friendly, helpful and kept things clean and orderly. All the amenities one needs are served there., i.e. bathroom, showers, trash, water, power, even wifi. All for a reasonable price. Should i ever have the need again and space is available, that's where I'll go.
So far the place is wonderful! Maybe for some it's a hit and miss. Though it's already friendly. The moment we came in a gentleman already said hello and welcome while getting something from the shop. Lady was very kind and up front. No beating around the bush and I love that! All she asked was that we parallel park if at camp sites and can pick any spot. Just please move every two days. Will update over time.
I called and made reservations a couple of days in advance for two nights. I knew that I wasn't going to get the best site on such early notice. However, I did not expect what I got when I arrived there. I had based my assessment on what I saw online which of course is always a mistake I know, The park had made a site directly behind the office building at the entrance to the park and that was my site! I had a view of their septic tank, propane tank, men and women going in and out of the bathroom and showers right in front of my door. This area should not have ever even been considered as a camping site! I complained when I checked in and was told that it was the only spot they had available. I said that I should at least get a discount for having to stay in such a subpar spot. There was no consideration of that and was simply told that the site prices are 43 bucks a night no matter what site it is. Needless to say I will never stay here again.
Great campground that's ruined by horrendous highway noise. Semi's using compression braking all hours of the night; way to go Idaho laws for permitting that. Add to that people coming and going through the campground, with headlights pointed at your tent as they wait around to sell their dope/pizza. Can't recommend tent camping without ear plugs and an eye mask. Probably much better in an RV. The facility is nice and clean, reasonably priced, friendly and helpful staff - hence the 5 Star.
