The Calhoun County Land Bank Authority is a separate legal authority that collaborates closely with the Calhoun County Treasurer and local municipalities to eliminate blight, improve downtowns and promote local economic development.
Building community partnerships enables the Land Bank to work effectively as a tool to stabilize communities burdened by large numbers of vacant, abandoned, and/or foreclosed properties. Abandoned properties pose significant fire and safety hazards, attract vandalism, & generate criminal activity. These blighted properties create a ripple effect, lowering adjacent property values and contributing to the decline of entire neighborhoods.
To preserve the integrity of neighborhoods in the county, the Calhoun County Land Bank works diligently with public, private, and nonprofit partners with the focus on neighborhood stabilization and redevelopment.
