Got this recommendation from a friend and drove all the way to anacortes. A reservation system will be much easier but waited for about 25 mins for a table. Ambience is good. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Pesto Focaccia Scramble and I’m mind blown with how it tasted. They source ingredients from locally owned farms. There was a great mix of various veggies with a hint of pesto. I’m definitely going back for this. Other order was a Smothered Omelette. It was quite bland but the sauce on the side was giving it a bit of flavor. Portion sizes are quite big. Great place for breakfast or brunch
$19 for a SLICE of quiche and an americano. Thought we had accidentally ordered the entire quiche, but no, $13 is the price for a single, very averagely sized, slice. It was good quiche, but nothing out of this world, pretty standard stuff. Can’t speak for the rest of their menu, but not feeling the value for the price in the quiche department. Will not be returning.
I really enjoyed this visit, I believe if your going to give a negative review then when you have a great experience the review should be as quick. The lady I care for wanted to come to Calico for breakfast, and I was hesitant because of my last experience was disappointing. However this morning we had a great experience, we were greeted immediately, and sat shortly after, we were asked if we wanted coffee, the coffee was delivered immediately and then about 10 minutes later our server took our order, she was friendly and informed about the menu, which was helpful because my sweetie and I go to the Calico in Mount Vernon and share a meal and I wasn’t sure which one it was and our servers knowledge about the menu helped me narrow down my choice and it was exactly what I have ordered in the past. The food was excellent. Another thing that was really was awesome the hostess sat us at a table with cushions which was excellent for my client who is 92, Thank you for that it really helped her enjoy her dining experience. I look forward to returning, the service seems to Have improved just as simple as being welcomed when we arrived makes such a big difference. Some people just want to know they have been seen & acknowledged. A warm greeting reminds you we still live in a small town and not an impersonal city. Thanks for a great breakfast experience!
My Family & I took a mini vacation the weekend of March 17-19 2023. My parents have been to this restaurant before so we came here. we absolutely love this restaurant the food is great, this is a breakfast an early lunch restaurant they close around 2 p.m. it was really an absolutely amazing place I highly suggest trying to English tea and give it to you in a cool little teapot. They give you a lot of food and it's all delicious and they sell tremendous amount of desserts and other items in the front of the store for those with the sweet tooth. It gets busy so try to get there for 9 a.m. if you're going for breakfast. I had the oatmeal which was a delight! Everyone because you absolutely cannot go wrong with this joint.
A spacious environment with excellent food and service. My family got cinnamon French toast, breakfast burrito, and the cinnamon roll. Everything was amazing and hit the spot. The portion sides were great and the prices were that of a typical breakfast place. We had a group of 20 and they were able to serve us quickly along with great customer service. I would highly recommend this place and would that I would come back to.
This is a local chain of coffee shops. There are locations here in Anacortes and also in Mount Vernon and La Conner. Perhaps the others are better? It was a huge coffeeshop with lots of space for indoor eating. The baked goods that we had were a mix. Some were only okay and others like the cinnamon bun were great. The really disappointing aspect was the iced coffee we had which was quite weak and the ice was almost completely melted in about one minute. The location is at the end of the main downtown walking area and they have seating outside but if you want to use the main patio that was in the sun you need to put your name down and wait for it. My kids had bacon cinnamon buns which they absolutely loved so I would expect that if that is your thing, this is a great place to visit.
Cozy, quiet place to grab a great breakfast or lunch! Loved the bakery and the incredible cookies.Food: 5/5
Huge portions of food and looked like a large array of desserts to choose from. Great place for a hearty breakfast before spending the day exploring.Food: 5/5
I really liked the food! The waiter was really kind and the food was good. They had a bunch of drink options, which my parents were excited about. I tried a sip of the huckleberry lemonade and it was very good. I got the French toast, and I was happy with it! I would love to come back in the future.
We had a great meal here. Good food, nice selection, great coffee and especially great service. Why 3 stars? I was excited to see the cinnamon rolls in the bakery counter and took a few home for rhe family. I am sure they are magical the day they are baked but not so much the day after. They were tasty but sadly dry and tough. Inedible without reheating. The microwave saved some of the experience but they are large and dense so by the time they are warmed through the frosting is liquefied at the bottom of the plate. Not the experience I was expecting for a premium product sold at a premium price. My advice to the owner is to start fresh every day and label your day old baked goods accordingly. In short I can recommend the restaurant but not as impressed by the bakery.
